I'm heading to SA in the morning to visit a friend and wanted to check out a couple of the better LFS in SA. Can some of the SA members let me know where to go and how to get there? I don't know SA that well, so give some more detailed directions if you can. I'm looking forward to see what is available down there.
Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen I was in SA Monday, Was off 410W. Go 410W to Vance Jackson, Make left. Texas Tropical is on the left side. It's right by Uhaul Store. That was the only place I had time to go to. Others told me about ALamo Aquatics, which was closed on Mondays. I'm thinking about going to pickup my new tank from Aquatrend. Most likely SA Bound like you. Good Luck

Alamo Aquatics is located outside loop 410 on bandera rd approx 1mile and they are open 7 days a week.
Aquatic warehouse is located by the airport on gulfdale rd. If you can get on 281 South exit nacoma and take a left on sandau (the first light). I believe gulfdale is the first street on your right, either way it will be in a buisness center on your right hand side. They have odd hours-closed on mondays tues-fri open 4-8pm sat and sun 12-5 i think. Real nice guys stop buy if you get a chance.

Alex,
You didn't think their prices were going to stay that low for ever did you? You're in sales, haven't you ever heard of "buying market share?"

That's true, but how many times have we seen posts here complaining about the lack of a quality LFS in SA, especially that supported reefers. I think we have one now.

there is a certain person there who has been rude to me, my wife, and my friends on several occasions. If that continues, i think you will find that less and less people are going to go there and support them. Who cares what the prices are like, if someone doesnt get treated well whem they go, why would they go back?

I have not seen a worthwhile lfs here in SA, but then again coming from Cali I might be a bit spoiled :)
Is it just me or does every other place have brown tanks with sick fish or clean tanks with tripled prices?

I love Aquatic Warehouse, but they've got some wicked hair algae problems. They do have the best coral selection out of any store I've been to. I still think their prices are pretty **** good.

Addresses are in the link "Pet Store Listings" at the top left. Other than PetCo (too pricey, too nasty) any of them may have a thing that interests you. A number of them are not fish stores only so they have limited space dedicated to marines.
AW has been good to me. Its the only place dedicated to marine and start up for something like that has got to be a bear. For being new, they are doing pretty well and you would be surprised how many people in SA would rather buy something from a bag or tanks full of dying fish that will die in 2 days than something that is decent. Makes starting something like they have done around here very difficult. That hair is a new tank thing and will go away soon enough so long as cleanup is correct. AW is one that is worth making the effort to go during the hours they are open IMO. Much of their stuff is straight from the islands to you without a stop in between or tank raised from ORA. If you haven't had an ORA fish, you should try it. ORA does make the prices more if you don't want misbars. And, they seem to do very well overall.
