Hi All!!

Since I am a newbie at this, I do have FW and I am starting to set up a 100 gal. system, I have not seen anything posted about this topic. Therefore, I thought that I would ask!
What do you do with your old water?
Since some of us live in areas that do not have public sewer systems, I have a septic system, how do you dispose of it. If I am not mistaken, you can not dump in your yard, because it will kill your grass, and therefore it could kill your septic, and that would be "VERY" bad news! If you know what I mean!!
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

It makes good weed killer for along your fence lines or on dirt roads.
A lot more environmental friendly that herbicides.

It will kill grass. I dump it on my driveway sometimes and the rain washes it in to the street.

It can take some time to kill grass depending on what kind of grass you have and how much water you are dumping. If you like your grass, don't dump saltwater on it.

You won't hurt a septic system. The system processes 1000s of gallons of water and 10-50 gallons of saltwater a month won't cause any problem. Many more nasty things get pumped into your septic system.

I put all my water down the drain or down the driveway depending on where I am moving the water from. Oh, and I rarely do a water change. Even on my 20 gallon.

As a side note, urine contains a lot of salt too. That's how your body regulates salt. Of course you are
diluting it with the flush water. The bacteria in your septic system should be fairly salt tolerant to start with.

 I've been pouring my used saltwater over the balcony onto the grass over here at my apt complex. Never really thought anything about it. Guess I should stop huh lol
