Hey guys, I'm mulling over the idea of putting a SCWD in a 20 gallon reef tank. What do you think? I know that I would have to carefully pick the pump that would power it, and would have to plumb an intake in the tank, but i think if i did something where it took water off the back wall of the tank at the bottom, and then I had two returns, one on each side of the tank, it could work. What do ya'll think? Also, what kind of flow should I be looking at for such an application?

Thanks

Eric

The problem with the 9.5 is I want to keep a jawfish in my tank, and i thought they didn't like too much flow...I may have to rethink the jawfish.

I just bought a scwd to use in my 30 hex.

ANy suggestions guys on what pump I should get? I am going to set up an 8 gallon sump underneath, so it will be about a 5 foot rise, with a couple of bends. I was going to actually put the SCWD in the tank, but I guess that is not how most people do it, so the idea now, is to have the two returns come into the tank behind the tower of live rock, and then go into it, with their exhaust points being hidden by the rock, going in opposite directions. I figure the size of the hex (30 gal) and shape should provide for plenty of 'current randomness'.

Any thoughts? I am going to get a CPR backpack overflow, that will take up most of the back panel, and I am checking right now to see if the remora skimmer I want is going to fit on the back of this 8 gallon hex. (It's the only thing I could find that would fit in this narrow stand.)

I use one SQWD on it right now and am considering useing 2 SQWD's on it. They are on the outside and divert water back and forth........ You can buy returns also for the SQWD that fan out the water. This things work GREAT for the price!
