Does anybody have any experience with these? Are they worth 80 something bucks or am I better off building one myself? (I have no experience with plumbing/flow stuff or acrylic)

My hair algae is coming back and I really need to get rid of it before I go crazy.

I'd definitly consider building it yourself. I'd never used acrylic either and in December I built a frag tank. You can find copies of he Aquafuge on Ebay but they're still only a litte less because they don't come with a pump. It should be an easy fun project.

How big is your tank? Spend a few bucks on turbo snails first and see if they work.

It's a 40 breeder.

I already tried the snails/crabs thing.

I'm down to feeding my three small fish twice a week.

I even took out all the rocks and scrubbed them down.

I do 20% water change every week.

The algae is still coming back.

One obvious question comes to mind,,, RO/DI? I use an AquaFuge, zero hair algae.
BTW, theres one for sale in the for sale forum here.

The correct light hood to use over them costs another $60. In hindsight, I think you should use: snails, tang, skimmer, RO/DI water and refugium to keep your tank sparkly

Liron,

I am the one selling the 24" aquafuge. If you have never built anyting out of acrylic before, buying a new one will definitely be the way to go. I'm not just trying to sell mine when I say you will spend more trying to do it yourself. Since it is your first time, plan on spending extra due to first time screw-ups.

The unit is brand new and comes with the powerhead. I'll take $85 for it. That's about $40 less (shipped) than you will find a new one anywhere else. Also comes with a 3" sandbed.

And Vinh, The custom Jalli light strip for the Aquafuge is about $30, not $60.

I have the Jalli for less. But I don't think it's appropriate for use on the AquaFuge. It can fall into the AquaFuge quite easily; especially after your AquaFuge bow out. The 36Watts JBJ clip on is about $60. The tiny, clip-on Azoo PC is about $20.

My point was, you don't have to spend $60.

Liron,

Tell you what, I will throw in an old dual 55 watt power compact setup including a 10K bulb (almost new) for only $10 more. I just ordered some new lighting and don't need it anymore. That makes the whole deal $90.

Sounds like a good deal!

Word of warning - many of the hang on refugiums on EBay actually require you to assemble them yourself , thus the bargain price. I have a 18" aquafuge I'm using right now and it performs fine.

Appreciate the offer Derek. Go ahead and put it up on ReefCentral though.

I think I am going to have to wait a little while before I buy anything (first month of the semester and bills are piling up.

Thanks anyways.
