I'm putting together a new tank and I need to get some sticky tape residue off the acrylic. What can I use to clean it? I'm trying to avoid going out and buying the acrylic cleaner but if thats the only option.

Use some rubbing alcohol, then scrape it off with a credit card. Just make sure to not get any in the water.

one option is more tape :o put the new tape over residue and peel it off. might have to do this 1 or 2 times

Goof off works, too. If you have a flame polished tank, though, be very careful of any solvent. Flame polishing tends to make acrylic craze when it's subjected to solvent cleaners, even alcohol.

I thought this was a joke, How do you clean acrylic? Very carefully!!!!

Ok, back to reality, Dan has the best advice.

I've also used hot water and an old shirt.
