Ok if you need a good ballest at a resonable price they can be had in SA.
American light carries a sealed ballest from advanced, this one does not need another box to go in. When you call talk with scott #(210) 657-5025
they are one of my suppliers for sometime now.
175w M57 ballest part#72C5581 $55.00.
250W M58 ballest part#72C5782 $66.00
400W M59 ballest part#72C6082 $86.00 have to order

Talk only to Scott this is my price and at the counter you will pay much much more.

if i had the m57 diy ballast from hellolights installed by a certified electrician, would it be the same as the alreaqdy assembled ones from american lights?

Will work the same I personally dislike the DIY ballest unless they are in a fixture on top of a pole. But that just me less parts less hassle. The DIY ballest has its place if you have a budget but at the price I can try to get for you it might be worth it for the better ballest. If you were to walk in off the street the 175 ballest at the same store would cost you easley over $70.00.

true, there is no doubt you can get them for a good price, the only thing is that i can get the DIY ballast online for 35 bucks and my gf's dad is a master electrician, so he could assemble it for free. sure after shipping i will prob only save 5 or 10 bucks, but i may already be ordering some things from there anyways. but i definitely like having to think aobut my options...

One thing I didn't mention with the ballest I was showing you do not need a capacitor or a ignitor. There are two other people that have these ballest other than me that is ratboy/Erik and 1salt/Daniel. At this time I'm not sure if they have theirs hooked up. At a later time maybe they can give some feedback.

Thanks Chuck

I Think it's actually cheaper to get the reto kits. I did a lot of research on this. I found that hellolights has the best prices. You get everything you need. I got a 250w kit that has the reflector with the socket . It was 85 bucks. you pick the bulb you want. I got a 10k xm bulb. Total price was 167 bucks including shipping. Then I found out that alexwolf got the electronic one for 157 bucks cuz he went thru josh :( . These kits are really easy to wire. If you arn't sure, there are plenty on folks in our club that can help (LIKE ME :-D ) probably do it for free (LIKE ME :-D ) PM me and I will help get it going.

Correct The reflector is $30 hellolghts ballest is $55 here then there is no tool box to by to mount in it can be mounted vert or horz.. My problem may be that Im use to doing it the easy way. If some needs help and Im still in town I will come by and give them a hand. Will put up a list for materials when I get the chance.

Sorry if the price was wrong, thats what he told me he paid. Anyway, this is what I got. The Grey box holds the transformer and capacitor. I wired a cord that just plugs in to the lamp. Very easy to do. The box cost 10 bucks at HD. Also got a 25ft cord at 4.99. Took less than an hour to get the system running.

No on that it means that ballest can be wired for 120V or 277V not that it can have 2 lamps on it. I can find a price on dual bulb ballest though. OK
you can get the set up for dual bulb. Type you see as a DIY Part#71A6382 at $102.33 and the enclosed one is a pot type for indoor use is #78E6381 at $188.16. Dual bulb ballest only come in 400W at this time. This type of ballest may be more difficult to wire.
