I am in the process of building a dual overhead surge device for my 115 cube. it will be a 15 gal tank divided with plexi and a carlson type surge drilled through the bottom on each side. the outputs will come straight down and enter on opposite front sides of the tank discharging towards the center back of the reef. the standpipes will be at slightly different heights so they will not continually discharge at the same time. there will be two overflows into the tank one slightly higher than the other. one overflow will handle normal operation and the slightly higher one will handle the surge that enters the tank. both overflows enter a 38 gal refugium that also has two overflows at slightly different heights. again one to handle normal operation and one to handle the surge. the normal overflow enters into a 20 gal sump that houses a mechanical filter and protien skimmer, the surge overflow enters a 20 gal holding tank. the outlets of the holding tank and the sump are plumbed together creating an "equlibrium" between the two. from here the water is pumped by two little giant pumps, one back to the main tank via two outlet nozzles and the other pump feeding the dual surge device,,,,, anyone have any input on this design or any opinions on how it will work...???

the surges will sit on a shelf above the tank... they will not interfere with the lights
