Question, my false perc is swimming around VERY slowly and breathing hard. has 2 small white bumps on right side towrds top. What do I do? I really like my little guy, dont want him to go. Also, need a general consensus. DO you think this is too much light for a 135 tank?

3x250w 10,000 Metal Halides
2x6 foot actinic of an Icecap 660.

Give me some tips, as I dont have a clue what im doing. Thanks!

Are those mogul based lights or hqi lamps? Lighting is dependent on what type of creatures you would like to reside in your tank. Sps, and clams....excellent lighting. All softies....and you have a reproducing heaven for guys. I really feel that 3 250's would be sufficient, and not necessarily overkill. I would do 3 250 hqi's over my 120, but I feel that if I do that I might need to invest in a chiller, and I don't see that as being feasible right now. Sorry that I do not know anything about your clown, but I have a feeling a few others will chime in here and get you the information that you need.

Alex....could that large hermit crab of yours gotten a wild hair & harrassed your clown? Have you checked your levels in the last day or so (from when you noticed the prob)? Breathing heavy is a sign of stress of some sort...

How tall & long is your canopy? Get rid of your damsel now that your tank is still new. B4 you buy the bulb, make sure it will fit on your canopy. The two endcaps on the bulb will add 1/2 inch to the bulb length.

well, the 135 isnt set up yet. The damsel is in my 37. My 37 has been set up for almost a year now. The canopy was designed for the tank, it sits on top.

Metal Halide bulb should be at about 8 inches from the water. The taller the canopy, the wider the spread of the MH. The amount of light you described above is not too much light for a 135. The question is, "Is it too much heat for your tank to be able to handle?"

Make sure you buy a RO/DI kit, b/c you're going to loose a lot of water through evaporation.
Well, z28pwr is using those Orion fans. They are cheap, quiet and push a lot of air. Or you could try the 4 inches Icecap fans. I saw picture of Nunze's canopy. If I were you, I would remove the top lid, add some cross pole into the canopy, and suspend your MH from that.

After you remove the top of the canopy, you need something to moutn the light on. Unless you plan on suspending your light from the ceiling, you need something to mount the light on. A wood beam across the tank still allow the tank to cool down and doesn't trap the heat in like a close canopy would. You canopy also open up on the front side. I'm not saying to get rid of your canopy completetely, just modify it if that's feasible.

As Vinh said, the Orion fan's I have are pretty good, cheap and quiet. I would recommend them.

You will move more air if you have both fans on one side blowing in (or out).
