Charley has been kind enough to host our August meeting. I believe we are looking at Sunday, August 24. Austin Aquariums will be the location. I know that Charley has scheduled a representative to chat with us and Jim N. may have a little something in store.

Charley will add details soon!

Adam,
The frogspawn is sitting in my tank still. I am having a hard time getting it out of the tank (it does not want to go!) Actually I have had several people come over and wanted to frag a piece already????? I was also offer alarge sum for the entire colony which entered my mind. And of course the entire amount (donation) would be donated to the club.

Forgive me for asking but I am new to this club, but I see Jim mentioned Donations... How does one go about making Donations, or is there some type of membership dues?

thanks

The donations I am refering is for a rather large frogspawn colony that was given to me from Seaworld (about 2 feet). I wanted to teach people how to frag this type of coral and would ask for DONATIONS which then I would in turn give to the club. I really did not care what the amount would be if any.
As this club expands money is needed to make it operate (simple). By raising money (I have a track recorded) for the club the cost does not have to be passed on to it's members.
I also do this for the enjoyment of learning and teaching. Being envolved in this way is fun for me.
I hope this helps explain alittle.

Thanks Misti,

I spoke with Trung from Red Sea today. He is excited to be joining us August 24, 2003 at the store, He will be speaking about his product line, and fielding questions. Any that he is unable to address on the spot will be dealt with once he can do more research. Red Sea products are now being sold through a distributor that works with most, if not all pet stores in the local area, so you should see more and more of their products. I have had most of them from day one, and really like quite a few of them.

Trung will be at the store some time later next week and we will finalize everything. I will post any updates I may have in this thread.

I have around 12-15 chairs for us to use, as well as 1 6-foot table. If we need any more, I may ask for some loaners. Chuckle

Jim,
Did you frag out the frogspawn? or just sell the whole piece?

If you are already fragging it, I have my donation ready. :skeezy:

That's just you R. :) I believe Jim is bringing it by the store here in the next week or so (is that right Jim?). It sounds like an awesome piece. My wife will be down from Dallas and will make us some cookies to snack on. I purchased some "dry-erase" board that I still need to put up on the wall (Ed?). Henry, this looks to be the first thing held in the classroom, and I am excited about that fact as well.

Chris, Trung from RedSea speak 1/2 a day with me at the store last week, and wanted to know what time we wanted him to begin speaking, and for how long. Can you help me out please? He is also going to bring information about Dupla, and Guisseman [sp], two product lines Red Sea has/is taking over.

Look forward to seeing everyone there :!:

On Sundays we try to shoot for 2ish. This allows for the out of town folks to get to the meeting after church, and also allows for a drive home at a decent time. Will this work for you Charley, or were you looking for earlier or later?

Just a reminder....

It is only a little over a week until the meeting! Charley has a great representative ready to talk to us. Bring any questions or concerns you may have about Red Sea products. If Trung does not know the answer, he will find it for you! I am sure Charley will have the store very well stocked for our shopping pleasure, also :-D !

Hope to see everyone there!

Argh.....cannot make meeting as of today...

I'll need someone from San Antonio to pick up my two bags of southdown sand.

Possibly some liverock from Tim Marvin if I can set that up as well.

Please pm me if you can transport the sand and/or liverock back to SA for me.

Thanks

Hey Ross,

You can find directions online through Yahoo! Maps (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=raqcGOp_0TrmOHIVcV1eNidjVU8amuCa5_E k&csz=Austin%2C+TX+78757-1725&country=us&mag=9). You should be able to also get detailed driving directions on there as well.

Anyone from MARSH going?

Charley

After speaking with Michael, I have decided to extend the following to MAAST members:

This Sunday only, I have special pricing on RedSea products. Most, if not all, RedSea items will be offered at 15% off retail, vs. the 10% normally offered to MAAST members. See me for details, as I will have a special price sheet with me.

This offer is only valid the day of the meeting (August 24, 2003), but is available on RedSea items in the store, or those ordered. Prepayment is required on all orders. I will contact people when their items arrive so they may be picked up at Austin Aquariums (sorry, I do not ship).

I look forward to seeing everyone there.
