I hope this is an okay thing to do on this board.
I used the ecoaqualizer and within the first 2 days, my Ich cleared up I noticed my polyps were opening larger, my hair algae decreased, and my pink coralline algae increased. I have been using it for about 4 weeks now, and my tank has never looked better.
Because I tested it for the company they are giving our group the following discounts and any dealers will most likely get even deeper discounts.
I was surprised how quick and well this worked on my tank. The below information is from the company.
Please take it or leave it. This is the last you'll hear about this from me, but just thought some of you would like to look at the web site and the research that supports the product.
For "club" members, the company is offering a 20% DISCOUNT.
The easiest way to offer this discount is to add a "Discount Code" to the Products Page on the website (www.ecoaqualizer.com) .
www.ecoaqualizer.com
If you would advise at your next meeting or via emails, that by entering the CODE word, oceans11 ,and then clicking GO , on the PRODUCTS page (top of page), will pop up a new screen that calculates the 20% discount.
This CODE word will work for 50 days until JULY 30th.
Thank you once again for the update and please let me know if their is anything else we can do. You may also want to advise your local fish stores in the Austin area about our product. We will be distributing directly to stores and offer wholesale pricing. We also have "custom units" for store facilities that also have a money back guarantee.

Quote Randy Holmes-Farley "99% bogus nonsense with a trivially small amount of truth thrown in." This statement alone makes me WANT to try it! Just spend about 1/2 hour reading in RC the pros and cons about this new product. The only real question that had not been answered is why does the product work? The claims aftering installing this product were clearer water, increase ORP, fish look better and they are more hunry, ich dissappeared, hair algae vanished, PH increased alittle. Now this is GOOD stuff. The real test is is does this improvement reverse itself if the product is removed??? Suggestion Tim have Vinh buy the product then wait afew days he will resell for less then you try it. (just kidding Vinh! ) After about four days removed it and report findings! Tim it is worth a shot! Lets buy two?

I'm willing to try it out, but I'm not going to pay $71 for some magnets. I don't see any power plug? What makes the infrared? Heat?

Tim,
you would contact them directly.
It does not have a plug, all that is required is for the water to flow through the unit. On the website, they have instructions on how to set it up.
Let the company know that you are with MAAST and you should get a discount.

So Lisa do you work for this company?
I see no harm in announcing a product or two, but in one post you come across like the average customer saying you just used this new product, but in the next post you say "we" a whole lot.
I just think it should be made clear that if you're selling something then make your stance on it and not to try & fool people, otherwise it will give your product a bad rep.

Looks good so far! But now tell me how to set this bad boy up on a sumpless, no canister filter 18 gallon. Looks like it might be worth a try, but I have no way to hook it up. Any ideas, let me know, I am willing to try it.

Lisa,
If you do work for the company maybe you can get afew samples? Different sizes would be better. As you may not know MAAST is currently in process in becoming a non-profit organization. What this really means is our goal is to teach people. If different members each test this unit one we are learning (teaching) and two if this unit does work what great PR for the company!!!!!! ;)
What do you think?
Jim
P.S. on Eco's website the picture of the MASNA show I am the last guy on the right side.
I am interested!

Well I've always been a sucker for 'miracle' products so I ordered 2 units. I'll try one on a tank here at the store and one on my tank at home and let you know how they work. I have an ORP Meter on my tank at home so should be able to tell a difference pretty quickly. Should arrive monday or tuesday. If they work as advertised I'll stock them in the store.
The guy at the company seemed very honest and knowledgable. He says they have sold over 3000 units and only had 1 returned.

I just tried the unit and liked it.
I have nothing to gain. Try if you like, if not don't. I pulled some of the info right from the web site on my first message, that's were I pulled the 'we' from.
I think you need some sort of a pump or power head to run it. The water has to flow through the unit.
I think they show different ways of setting it up on the web site. I'm just an end users, if you have any technical questions on it you may want to contact them direcetly.
What I said was just one person, who used the ecoaqualizer and liked the results.
Please be your own judge. There appears to be feelings that this is not 'real' or snake oil. Everyone has a right to say and feel what they like. I have no problem with this at all. This is just my review and findings from using the ecoaqualizer.
I really care about the health and well being of my critters, and this seemed to make them happier and healthier.
Please take this as everything in life with a grain of salt..

The company had asked me to try it and give them a review, after I review the item, they sent me an email with information to pass on to the reef groups I belong to.
If you want to try it, follow the prior directions for a MAAST discount.
I might be worth a shot, maybe not...
You decide.

Just hooked up an ecoaqualizer to my tank. I'll let you know how it goes. ORP is at 256mv and I have always had a bit of an algae problem. My ORP has never exceeded 280mv even when I tried using ozone, so if it goes above 300mv and my algae problems decrease then I'll be sold that it does do something.

Sweet Richard! I am waiting for mine to come so Jim and I can do some experiments on them. They claim that the fish will acclimate better also. Interesting claim.....

Hey Tim I checked out some of the threads about these on RC. Now I remember why I never go there.

I guess you saw my short battle with the pro's then huh? They want hard core proof that it works. I basically told them to proof GOD exists or doesn't. Science can't prove everything, sometimes you have to just take a step off and see for yourself. We have faith that the scientist tests and experiments aren't tainted. I don't believe humans have even scratched the suface as to why things work or don't maybe this is one of those unexplained things. We'll see. Then again it could be "snake oil", but I have to find out myself. Most additives are "snake oil" IMO, but a lot of people are sold on them.

Tim,
I just read youre post on RC with those guys, it was amusing. Now I know why i dont wanna finish my science degree..those guys are **&$((#*@&@&@!!!!!!!!! I love science but some things just need to be tried blindly if you think you have a chance at it. I hope it works for you. I dont know why youre doing it...your tanks are pretty **** awesome to begin with...good luck.

Yeah Tim, It's interesting that these guys claim to require a complete scientific understanding of something before they will try it. If this were really the case, they would tear down their tanks and wait for scientists to discover all there is to know about the oceans and everything that lives in it. Only then would they dare to try and take a piece of the ocean and stick it in a glass box.

Well I guess I don't count here but here goes anyway! Been using the 125 model since around the first of may. ORP readings before It was installed were 325 mv. Tonites reading 418. I'll tell ya folks this product works! and works WELL and IMO it's priced were anyone can afford it. Just flow the water thru it using a small pump. Mine is connected a mj 1000 pump that runs my calcium reactor. and as a side note, I was cleaning the glass every 3 days. Now I only have to clean it at about 2 weeks since installing this thing.

OK, I received a couple 200's and 125 yesterday. I will be useing a 200 as will Jim Norris. There is one 125 that I am not sure if I will use or not. If someone wants it I can let it go for $79.
Richard, I wonder if glass is OK? Maybe they should go in acrylic boxes? Maybe not....? We should ask the pro's on RC.......JK............. :scold:

Tim, Have you hooked up the ecoaqualizer? Any differences?
I've had one hooked up on my 140 for 6 days now and have seen my ORP fluctuate between the starting point of 257mv up to 278mv's. It is generally in the upper 260's for the past 3-4 days so I guess there is some improvement overall although not dramatic. Also my ORP seems to fluctuate alot more over the course of the day than it did before.
I had a finger leather that was looking very puny and is now fully expanded...BUT - this leather has always kinda gone through cycle of looking puny for 1-2 weeks and then looking great for a month or two so I can't definitely say this change for the better was due to the ecoaqualizer.
I have a wellsophyllia that is now expanded at least twice as much as it was before I hooked up the ecoaqualizer...BUT - I had just added this guy about a 10 days before so maybe he finally just settled in.
Other claims of the ecoaqualizer:
1.) Clearer Water - well my water actually does seem clearer but this is a very subjective thing and may just be wishful thinking on my part.
2.) Fish have bigger appetites - no change, my fish ate like pigs before I hooked up the ecoaqualizer
So after 6 days I would say that I think there has been some improvement in my tank but am still undecided. Also, For some strange reason I looked at the instructions for this thing today and noticed it is supposed to be install 6" from the water, mine is about 3" above the water. I'll change that and see if it helps. One of these days I'll learn to actually read the instructions to new things rather than just tossing them to the side.

Well,
I want to give everyone an update on my tank. I have had the unit installed for about 2 months..
I did go out of town for a week and my tank was not dosed with the proper stuff until I got back.. So it's hard to say if the results I'm now seeing is due to my not being home to care for it or not..
My leather is retracted, I'm seeing some green algea tuffs.
I'm also seeing what looks a bit like bleaching. It's hard to say exatly what is causing this. I will watch my tank and keep everyone posted. I do water changes about once a week, and I did one last night. It was several days overdue.
So, I'm still undecided.. on this. There are so many things that contribute to a healthy tank, it can be hard to pin point what is making it better or worse. I guess that's why I love this hobby. It's never boring.
I'll keep everyone posted. I hope my tank decline is not due to this unit, otherwise I will feel really bad about my earlier review.
Either way, I'll keep it real and keep everyone updated.

I just hooked the unit up. I used a milwaukee ORP that I am sure has to be run for a while. It read 128mv in the salt water and 210 in tap water. Sounds really low to me...? The tanks have numerous corals in them that are doing well. Anyway, it said the probe needed to soak for a while before it becomes accurate. I'll keep you informed if I notice any change.
Richard
Fri, 27th Jun 2003, 11:45 PM
When I first hooked up mine (actually an aquazone ozonizer/controller - I don't use the ozone anymore) it took several days for probe to start reading accurately.
Tim Marvin
Fri, 27th Jun 2003, 11:48 PM
Good! I was thinking either the probe was bad, or my tanks were all in worse condition than I thought! I didn't believe the reading because the corals seem to be doing fine and growing.

OK, it has been running for a couple hours, and the skimmer has foam all over it. Also some foam in the filter box on the DAS tank. It has to be doing something as this skimmer has been set the same for months. I made no adjustments to the skimmer. I fed a little fish to the anemones, but it has never foamed up like this. I'll let you know tomorrow what is going on.

Well, I sold the DAS tank to John in south Austin. The hair was going away, and the water looked more clear. I'm not too sure if this filter was doing it or not.???

I'm now also on the fence.
I'm in the process of getting rid of my bio balls, and I'm having some water quality issues(low Calcium, low ph). I also do see hair algea.
I'm not sure it's doing much. I thought at first it was but now I'm not sure. Only time will tell.
