Trae has graciously donated his home in Pleasanton for us to invade for the next meeting. This meeting will take place on Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 pm. His address is 1329 Meadowlark, Pleasanton, 78064. I will have our wonderful webmaster tack a map on here for us in the next few days.

This meeting will be a frag swap!

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Do y'all want to do this meeting as a bring your own frags and trade with one another OR have the group buy some and slice and dice them at the meeting (as previously done)? If the group purchases some, the attendees will be responsible for paying for the corals bought. Until I find out general interests I cannot say how much it will cost each, but last time it was well worth it!

I would be willing to buy some, don't have much to frag out yet due to the fact that my acropora's are still babies :( .

I need to know how many of the folks planning on coming to this meeting want to go in on a box of corals to frag. If we get 20 people willing, we are looking at about $25 each. Last time that gave each of us more frags than we knew what to do with. I need to know if anyone is interested, as getting stuck with that many corals myself might be a problem.

Thanks!

Tim Marvin

What if we pay $30 each and give $100 to MAAST. That would still be a good deal.

I'm in for $30 if that would bring 5-10 frags of SPS. Don't care whether it's acro, monti/cap, seriatopora, pocillopora, etc.

I will also bring 2 huge Capnella (also called Colt corals) - see
http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/dean.hobbs@sbcglobal.net/vwp?.dir=/Public+Files&.dnm=capnella.jpg&.src=ph&.view=t&.hi res=t
They are pink, or light purple, or brown, depending on the person ;) Anyway, the 2 could be cut into 10-15 frags, and they grown fairly fast for me. I'll trade these on the side for other corals, or for "draft picks" so I can get more SPS frags.

Looking forward to it!

forgot also maybe chris can make one of those polls to see how many people will be attending the meeting to give a good estimate on how many corals/frags might be needed. you might not need a whole box lot if there's going to be a low turn out.

I'll have lots of corals that can be frag up around that time. But I won't be at the meeting. I'm moving so I need to split up my tank. Or I'll just set up a coral garage sale at the end of June early July.

$30 is fine w/ me.

After seeing pics like this

the drive is easy. I don’t have much to frag. I have some capnella that

looks the same as Dean’s. I could also bring a couple of xenia frags. The

more the merrier I’m guessing.

Hey guys,

I don't think it was mentioned before, but if you have any frags you would like to donate to the club for this event... it would also help us out!

The profit from this event (and it won't be much at this point) is going to be used as payment to order our membership cards.

Feel free to contact either me or Misti if you would like to donate any items (ie. frags/corals/products).

Chris ;)

We received the frags for the frag swap on Wednesday! They are looking good! Chris is coming over to take some pictures on Friday and we will post images for all to see!

The order ended up having a lot of very nice corals, but many are LPS. These are, of course, not fraggable by mere mortals... So, Jim Norris has kindly stepped forward to assist with this dilemma! He is trading (almost donating) a large, show acro for a few of the corals that we got in the order, since we cannot afford to buy a second batch and we promised a fragging event! We can show everyone how to frag using a beautiful monster acro! This will be a good education for those that were not able to attend the original frag event! We are also going to have the corals that we originally ordered for the event! This should be great.

We are currently sticking to $30 a participant. Please bring the money to the meeting. If we have more participants than originally expected, we will, of course, lower the cost for everyone.

Don't forget to bring some of your own "stuff" to trade with others! This is a great opportunity to diversify your tank with the help of fellow coral lovers!

Sounds like some people are going to learn to do some fragging! Fragging is the first part. The second part is trying the many different ways to attach your frag!

The show size acro is purple in color I hope this is OK? Theres about 20 good frags on it plus the base for future frags!

mattheyn
Sat, 21st Jun 2003, 03:22 PM
I take it that the order has already been placed? If so, then what can we expect out of it? Is Jim's acro the only thing that we are going to be fragging? It doesn't seem like anybody else is really going to be bringing much. Hopefuly you can enlighten me.

The pieces of colt that I have are small. I gave my largest one a hair cut, so to speak. If anyone has any zoos that are not solid green or brown that would be a good trade. I would even buy some nice zoos. Just pm if you have a polyp or two.

Hi,
I'm kind of new here. I have been playing with a 125 gal tank that's about 7 months old. I don't have much coral for it. It's very lightly populated with fish.

The only coral I have to trade would be some orange tube coral that I got on some Florida aquacultured live rock. I never hear you guys talking about this stuff. Is that because this is undesirable? I have a number of small pieces with 5 to 10 polyps on them. Should I bring them to trade? I hear they have no zooxanthellae so they need plankton.

I would like to start some soft corals as I don't have metal halides yet. I do have an Icecap 660 though.
