How would you want to have to buy the LR and sand to fill that bad boy. Probably best to use as an aggresive setup. :P

Has anyone taken a look at it? Does anyone have a spot big enough to put it? It may make a great frag tank for maast members if we could get sunlight on it.......... Jim and I could handle the sand, rock, plumbing, and equipment. Maybe Charley would want to jump in on this also. I think $2,500 is pretty steep though. I don't think it is an easy piece to move or sell.

Tim,

I disagree with you. I dont think this would make a good frag tank, for the simple fact that its 8ft tall. You'd have to have a ladder to get to the top and almost have to jump in to get stuff out of it....cs

Oh, and I have a place to put it if someone wants to buy it and stock if for me. I dont think the wife would mind that as long as it fits through the door...cs :-D

We would have to think outside of the box. Frags could be housed on racks near the top and mother colonies would be housed lower down and be allowed to grow to any size. A 5 inch deep sand bed could be put on the bottom. A huge gigas can sit down there to help filter, we are not talking about a little home style set-up so ladders to get to it would be no big deal. We could put in 4-6 inch bulkheads with 50 gallon surge units. This is a very workable frag tank. I can have huge tongs built to pick up things from the bottom or just jump in if needed. there would rarely be a need to go in. Oh, and Reef Central may allow us to put one small tang in.

Tim - this is so bad, I was actually measuring in my living room to see if it would fit lol. Remember folks this is 3" acrylic! This is actually a really good price for the tank its just wierd dimensions. A tank this size would actually be an ideal outdoor propogation / grow out tank - a good auto top off would be a must.

I was thinking if the opening is big enough you could just snorkel around to do maintenance :)

This could be a corner to a green house. Very good insulation also being so thick.

You would almost have to get the scuba gear on to clean the tank!

we could do some big fund raiser to get this tank, like a big car wash or
Bar-B-Q, both in Austin and SA to raise the money to get this, it would be cool, ;)

Welcome to MAAST Gaidin!

Other than this tank... do you have others? More specifically.. are you in the hobby or just getting rid of a nice little toy?

Yes I am in the fish hobby. I worked for 5yrs at Aquarium Sales and Service in San Antonio maintaing reefs and saltwater at the store and service clients, but at home I am more into fresh water. For years I ran 30-60 aquariums 5-180gallons breeding african cichlids, discus, angelfish and apistogrammas to name the majority and got out of it for a while.Getting back into discus a little now and prababaly in a huge way soon. Got lucky enough to get tank till reality hit and I have no where to put it empty or full.

My 720 would have been nice for your plans it's 8 X 3 X 4 but I had to get rid of it since it didn't fit in the house.

Tim,

Maybe you could get that trailer they have in front of Walmart every year with all the Bass in it, that thing must be a couple thousand gallons. You could just park it in your street. If the temps were gettin too high, you could just take it out on the highway, like they used to do with hotrods....hehe :-D
