I'm looking for a LONG pair of gloves that I can use in my tank. Is there such a thing available? And if so...anyone know where I can get some? Think I'm getting some allergic reaction or I may have touched something I shouldn't have touched. I have a patch of bumps on one of my fingers. Anyone ever hear of something to this effect?

Thanks...

Hi Sherri!
Drs. Foster & Smith have them in their catalogue for $15.99 a pair. Item #FF-912221. Im sure you can get them just about anywhere online. Premium Aquatics?
Its not uncommon for some people to develop an allergic reaction to tank environments.

Yup... i've got a pair of big orange and purple gloves that I got from Premium Aquatics I believe.

They work out alright but there's not a lot of feeling you get through them.

If you aren't having any problems on your arms with the rash then you may be good with some small hand gloves... but having both is a good idea. ;)

Got $30 worth of gift certificates from Premium Aquatics...Thank ya there JimN!! Won it at the April meeting. :-D

I have allergies bigtime anyway....but is anyone familiar with what I'm talking about? Looks like they're spreading...have a clear center...& very small. Was wondering if maybe I touched a particular thing or just having my hands in the water. I even pet my fish & feed out of my hands...

Thanks Chris & Jim...will check out Prem Aquatics.

You could try sticking your other hand in the tank and not touching anything, and see if they develope on the other hand also. The only drawback is if its the water, you will then have it on both hands....cs

Don't think I want to chance getting it on both hands. Think I'll look for the gloves & go see someone about it...

Sherri i've read a few people have developed an allergic reaction after a while to their tank. It could possibly be a coral or just something else in the water.

I'd imagine it would take a lot of the fun out of the hobby not being able to stick your hand in there when needed, but if you limit sticking your hands in there to only every once in a while it *may* not have that much of an effect. Still worth looking into if you have a Dr. that can help.

I love having my hands in my tank! :-o I'm always messing with it. There's always something that requires "my help." I've had freshwater tanks for 14-15 yrs, but this is my 1st salt (9 mos). Think I might do some "research" on saltwater allergies & see what I find.

BTW...didn't find any on Premium Aquatics website...

i've been thinking about getting some orange chemical gloves from work. these gloves extend up most of the forearm, and are very durable.

Hey Reefer...my concern is if they're too thick to be able to maneuver well....

well sherri
if you ever make it up to austin, Aquatek has some plastic gloves for 5 bucks. I think there may be more than a pair in them too. They seem like they would do the job but aren;t very thick.
