Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and the Central Texas area. Where are some good fish stores in the Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos Area? Thanks for your help!

Its strange that there aren't very many good ones here. i come from Houston where there are about 5 good ones 30 minutes away in all directions. Oh well, I will have to check this place out. Thanks!

I believe the best two in S.A. are Alamo Aquatics on Bandera Rd and Texas Tropical and Marine on Vance Jackson and 410. I prefer the former due to its staff and space. Good luck. :)

In austin we have:

Aquatek - Very knowledgable, not the hugest selection of livestock but they have a few nice corals and some inverts / fish. Prices reasonable to high IME, they sell all the Tunze stuff if you like high quality equipment. Highly Reccomended.

Partners - (Round Rock actually) Has a very good selection of livestock usually and they are very healthy. Prices on livestock are reasonable but dry goods are ridiculously expensive. The people I have talked to there are helpful and friendly. Reccomended.

AquaDome - South Austin , nice selection of LPS corals usually , he has a huge open tank on the second floor you can check it out. Live rock is expensive singly but he has a tank you can pick your own and it's pretty well cured. Livestock looks good sometimes other times a little spotty, I've bought a few fish from there and they are all doing ok. Dry goods are reasonably priced. Owner is really nice guy, very helpful. I'd go here more often but it's a bit of a drive for me from N Austin / Pflugerville area. Reccomended.

Gallery of Pets - North Austin , have some very nice livestock, prices a little pricey on some of the corals but they have been getting some really nice pieces lately. My ony complaint here is that they sell stuff so fast you need to check regulalrly to get the best livestock. Very good selections of dry goods and reasonable prices. Staff there are the most helpful I've found in Austin and are very nice people to boot. Highly reccomended.

There is one shop in Cedar Park too besides Tim but I'll reserve comments on that one.

In the Austin area we really don't have any substandard shops all of them are pretty good, I do most of my business with Aquatek or Gallery but the other mentioned stores are worth a trip too.
