Here's your chance guys... lets share how much flow everyone has in their tanks and what you're using to get that much movement.

From Sea Swirls to Reeftecs, closed loops and wavemakers... what are you using and how do you (and more importantly, your corals) like it?

I use a Dolphin 3000, mag 12, mag 9, a 15 gallon surge unit, a 7 gallon surge unit, and a couple smaller powerheads on the 350. A mag 9 and RedSea wavemaker with 3 powerheads on a 90 gallon corner. I think they could all use more current. The more current the better things seem to do. If it doesn't have to be anchored down you probably don't have near enough current...

Just curious, did you build the surge or buy one?

i built it,, but it out of black acrylic,, it is 12"x8"x12".. dumps about 1-1/2 gals of water.

The tornado look is from a large volume of water dumping fast against another current. I have a 15 gallon surge that dumps from a 1 1/2 inch fitting that does the same thing. Very simple to build with no moving parts. It works off a siphon.
