I have a 29 gallon that I have been trying to set up for a while that is running with a Lee's countercurrent skimmer that hangs inside the tank. It is one I originally bought as a spare for use in QT when I had a long term guest. Well, I hate this skimmer more than anything in the world! It is a pain in the tushy! I know all the DSB and lots live rock stuff and remove the skimmer, but I like skimmers! They help those of us who overfeed a bit! So, other than getting rid of a skimmer all together.... What kind/size of skimmer would be good for a tank this size? I really do not like these countercurrent ones that you have to adjust perfectly and I do not like the fact that it sits totally in the tank. I am just having a hard time finding one for a tank this small. Suggestions?

For a tank that size, the Bak Pak might fit the bill. I have one on my 55 and it does a very good job and I have had no problems with it.

I had a red sea prism on my 29. It's a bit of a PITA to get adjusted, but it's definitely enough for a 29 and cheaper than the bakpak. It's now on my 10 gal nano, where I'm always surprised how much skimmate it pulls.

Hey Matt... welcome to the group! ;)

I second the Red Sea Prism... for around or under $80 it's one of the cheapest and should work nicely on that sized tank.

Having used both, I would recommend the Bak Pak 2R over the Prizm. There's room inside the bak pak for you to place the heater into the skimmer.
