Also get in with Hello lighting, they can sell lights for cheaper than Champion and you won't have to wait the typical 7-10 days they take to ship to you. Get in with lone star in Schertz. They have a lot of supplies and you can get it within a few hours if you need it. They are a little more than Champion, but convenient because they are so close to you.

I think money is probably most of our problems. I'd have a 10,000 gallon tank if money wasn't an issue.

Josh, B-line bulb might not have a long life. Are you willing to replace as early as six months?

Is there much of a discount on replacement cartridges for the Kent RO/DI systems versus what they list on their site? Specifically I need(or may need in the future) these Kent parts:
Membrane Part Number:
MHiS60
Sediment Part Number:
CF1M
Carbon Part Number:
CFCE
Resin Part Number:
SILICAMAX

You exactly right! Home depot can supply the pre-filter, membrane, and carbon filter. The mixed bed resin will have to be bought through an aquarium supply as far as I know. As for Hi-S filtering I have used both a Hi-S maxxima system and a GE sytem from Home Depot that is just RO, and I can't tell any difference. These filters have been in use for 2 continuous years on two different systems for both top off and water changes. I won't buy another Kent when you can get the same results from Home Depot. Most of these filters originate from only a couple Manufacturers and are just marked with a brand name and marked up!

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out Home Depot, since it seems I'm there every week already.
I bought the Hi-s model because I was facing the possibility of moving to a different city where I didn't know anything about the water supply. I don't think it does much for the water here in SA.

what does the mixed bed resin accomplish??

Mixed bed just refers to multiple functions. For instance you may have some resins for extra silicate removal, and some for deionization. Again, I'm not so sure all this extra fancy stuff makes much difference. I think the RO is the major filter.
