Any body with any experience with the Ecosystem with the "miracle mud"
It almost seems from my reading that it is a large expensive refugium.

Also, what about the Lifereef systems. Good, bad, etc, etc. I am trying to decide with filtration system would be best for the 300.

the eco system is not that large but very expensive for what you get and you have to keep replacing the miracle mud in order for it to stay effective.. this is just my opinion but i don't think they are worth a crap.build you a good refugium with a dsb and you are good to go

Well... i'm personally against the miracle mud system although i'm sure it works and i've read many threads with happy customers. I'm not against it so much for the logic behind it, but more for the PRICE. There have been studies on the chemical composition of the product which resulted in findings proving that the substance had absolutely no link to a marine environment. So in essense you're buying a good quality mud... pretty much the same stuff you can buy at Home Depot.

I also find it funny that when it first came out, the suggested amount to replace was half every 6 months. Because it was like $10/lb. this sounded like a crazy money making scheme. Now I think they've changed the policy to 25% every year or two years. Seems they haven't really done much research on their own product to make such a drastic change.

I guess i'm just a bit skeptical of anything with the word "miracle" in it... just smells like a scam to me. :?

Hi,
I've used many MM system in my past tanks. You can see picture of it here: http://www.swt.edu/~xp42012/2002/

Currently, I'm running a Lifereef Sump & Skimmer & Deep Sand Bed on my 120. I'm wishing that I should've set it up as a Shallow Bottom/Bare Bottom & Caulerpa Sump.

If you are not going w/ MM, then go w/ a complete custom system from Lifereef. When you order a custom system, everything work together, so you there less plumbing headache in your part. Lifereef skimmer is not the MOST powerful skimmer, but they are less maintenance and quieter then the other powerhouse. Lifereef is jacking up the price on their system in severeal months. So, order now. There's a long line to get your stuff custom build from Lifereef, so plan that in.
