Sump/fuge 34x11x14

I have been commissioned to build a sump/fuge combo for a 46 bowfront. I thought it would be nice to post a build thread as it comes together.

Here is the design that I am working toward. It will be made from 1/4" acrylic with outside dimensions of 34x11x14 including a skimmer section, refugium section and return section. To minimize effect of evaporation, the fuge and return section will function as one big chamber.

sump is assembled, just have to trim and polish the edges after it cures.

Ace, do you find those 90° clamps to be effective? I'm guessing yes since you obviously use them. Other than getting a clean cut on the acrylic, aligning and holding together the acrylic has always been where I struggle. How are you able to assemble a "corner" with 3 pieces? I've use masking tape in the past but not as clean as I would like.

hey robert. yes, i definitely prefer gluing with the corner clamps to make sure the pieces are perpendicular. to glue the three pieces that form any corner, you have to put two pieces together and let them cure before you attach the third piece. i also cut two of the pieces slightly larger than needed so they can be trimmed perfectly after assembly with a laminant router bit.
