As many of you know, we were invited by Neptune Systems in July to participate in their third annual Marine Aquarium Hobbyist of the Year contest. Several clubs all over North America participated in this contest and as soon as we got the invite we worked hard to find nominees who could represent MAAST for this prestigious award.

At our last board meeting, we had 5 members who were nominated by their peers. Marcello Cantu, Mike Rudolph, Justin Nelson, Brandon Skidmore, and Ty Ta, and after two rounds of voting by those in attendance, it was decided that Justin Nelson would represent the Marine Aquarist's Association of South Texas for the MAHY Award.

I'm incredibly proud to share the news that Justin Nelson, your Vice President, joins past MAHY winners David Grigor and Brad Syphus as the recipient of Neptune's 2017 Marine Aquarium Hobbyist of the Year award!

We will be sharing pictures and video from this event, along with a presentation by Justin at our next meeting on October 15th! We will be finalizing the location in the next few weeks and will be putting up the details asap!

I'm going to have to get you to sign my Apex in a couple weeks now that you're a celebrity!

http://imgur.com/wHzhMQSLol, thanks Ty. It was truly a humbling experience and awesome. I was able to meet some great folks and see some awesome corals. I was even able to see the infamous homewrecker frag in person. Its beautiful but I don't see the price tag on it though!!!
