Watch the following, it seems our cheap meter and sensor does better than the $1500 Licor and $500 Apogee 510

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hUkufXBb3I

If you watch around minute 7 it will show the Cheaper apogee at 34% above the Licor, but a minute later BRSTV says there where issues and that the Licor needs to be multiplied by 32% which puts the apogee on target. Watch the video and pass around, I have been wanting the BOD to upgrade? Let me know if I missed something. Not so sure any more

I'll check it out. Right now I'm watching a presentation from Jason Fox at Reef Currants. Interesting stuff. He basically believes in lots of flow!!!. So now I'm messing with my pumps to try and get more flow

What's interesting is I was always told the apogee always under reported blues.

That was always the claim I heard also. Since I have taken over the meter checkout program I have had a few that actually turned there leds down after borrowing the meter. It seems the newer leds perform much better since they are now full spectrum, versus blue and white of old.

I'll have to say that I believe from experience that warm whites are better at growing corals than cool whites. My old sol blues grew corals better than my full spectrum hydra 52s. I'm sure they will add the warm whites as well as the cool whites on the next version. Mark my words. The G4s have already done this and it's a smart move.

To stay on track with par meters, I have a apogee par meter and it's 7% correction compared to the new which is 37% or 30 something. So yea newer doesn't always mean better when it comes to lights or par meters.

Looks like the old meter may be where we stay.
