Hey Everyone! We have decided to change the name of the "Tank of the Quarter" to "Featured Tank"
Basically the guidelines are going to be the same as the Tank of the Quarter see below for elegibility guidelines:
Need to be a Charter member to be eligible.
Any member in good standing can submit a nomination below. Once a tank is nominated, the owner should accept or decline. Should they accept, please include photos and a brief description of your tank in this thread!
No limit to the number of nominations a member can submit.
Members are encouraged to nominate themselves (since they know their tanks better than anyone).
Featured Tank committee members and their family members are not eligible.
See Below for Recognition:
Multi-page article with pictures posted on MAAST and facebook.
Presentation at a Featured Tank social, then posted on MAAST and facebook.
Dedicated thread in the MAAST Featured Tank forum with tank info where the owner can discuss and answer member’s questions about the tank
Entered in MAAST Featured Tank of the Year contest (winner selected by member poll)
See Below for the Selection Process:
Selection Process
Selection will be made by the Featured Tank Committee based on the nominations. Once a tank is selected as our Featured Tank,, we will announce the winner and conduct an in-depth interview with the tank owner to get the complete story of their tank and further details.
Thank you for taking the time to participate in this contest! We can't wait to see the best aquariums that MAAST has to offer.

Let's nominate Sierra Bravo once he gets his system up and running. If anything, I want an excuse to check out this fish room he just plumbed.

LOL! You guys are hilarious...all I've got is an empty plywood stand and a sump! We have to get some more members active on this board...
Here - I just received a full tank shot from Louis Bueno at Elegant Reef:

Luis is a great guy. The guy has been reefing for quite some time. Just put the word out and Maast can return to having a lot of active members again.

Thanks Zack! We'll see how much of it survives the move in the next couple of weeks. May be nominating two empty tanks this quarter. :p

I know this site can be slow at times, but our monthly meetings and swaps have been booming. I know maast was built and designed as an online forum but I think a lot of the current maast experience is in person with the discussions and presentations we have once a month. Last time we had three members fill an entire frag tank unplanned with free very nice zoa frags along with many donated items from World Class Aquatics. No one left empty handed!

I would like to nominate Jeremiah (Frogman). He is a great guy with several beautiful systems. He also has a wealth of knowledge about coral and different feeding practices.

Scream311 has a very nice shark tank and has my vote. It's awesome. I'm still looking for a reef tank that's growing colonies? Can't find any :p . Find me some

Farmerty grows a lot of corals that I have seen. I would like to nominate his tank because of the coral that he is growing.

Where are the monthly meetings posted at? I didn't know there was a LMAR event this past weekend until I read someone asking if another member was attending. I found it in the event tab but the home tab still has the event from last year as the top event. Local clubs definitely make this hobby more enjoyable.

We post our meetings about a month in advance in the meetings sub-forum. The board is taking June off and July should be announced around mid June.
Right now the meetings are month to month since a lot of the local shops are going through some big changes and planning several months out just isn't possible. We also finished out our contract with the aquarium on Sunday and are working on a new one to firm up the rest of the non-fish store meetings this year.
Edit: I see what the issue is. We added a special meetings sub forum to not clog up our announcements page and we didn't change over the redirect. I sent robert a pm to see about switching it back.
