I had 2 clown fish... now I have one. No clue where it went. Not in overflow boxes, not in sump socks, dont think its in the LR sump, not in tank, no body on floor.... just gone.

If it did die could the clean up crew devour a small fish in 24 hours?

24 hours doesn't sound unreasonable if you have a stocked CUC. Any noticeable changes to parameters?

No changes. Tank is the best its ever been in the last 5 years.

It is amazing how well a combination of bristle worms and crabs can clean up a fish. But 10 years ago in my 200 I lost a clownfish, a purple tang, and a newly added bluespot jawfish who had not created a burrow, but just hung out under a rock. It wasn't till I lost the jawfish did I find this guy eating the second half of his meal. I went to work taking my tank apart one rock at a time until I found an awesome hiding spot in one of the larger rocks with this crab in it. And although not considered to be hostile, I am guessing he wasn't content on scraps any more. I had seen him only once two years prior to this. if you lose another fish for no reason, you may want to start hunting at night?

Wow! Crabs can be feisty i guess.

Im still leaning towards the clown got into the overflow, sucked into the sump and is hiding in the live rock in the sump. I know one of the clowns kept getting in the overflow and since the socks were getting full its possible the fish went through the overflow for the sump socks.

I wonder where all my little crabs went. I shall look tonight.

Oh wow. I have had a few smaller fish that I think died shortly after introduction. Pretty sure my large brittle starfish devoured them (in seconds!) because I never found their bodies.

I bought a larger clown fish friday to replace the MIA clown. Well, few minutes ago I looked into the sump and there is the missing clown fish. See if they will be friends
