So I decided to downgrade from a 125 thinking that it will be easier to manage if I am to move in the near future. Tonight I started by drilling the tank for the synergy shadow overflow and a 3/4 return.

From the current tank I will take a Bubble Magus Curve 7, ReefAngel, and ADHI refugium (until I have time to build my own). And some of the livestock.

Looking good, but going from a 125 to a 40 is a big change.

Looks good man. Question:
Is the light brace wobbly on your setup? I ask because I like how you did it and curious if just securing it to the back of the stand in one spot vs. two spots does anything for wobbiness?

Thanks!
It's not wobbly at all. I used 2 points to connect and used the flange bases to connect to the stand with 4 screws per flange. Once tightened all the black pipe connections become really firm. I think it's because the threads are tapered.

So I needed extra room and had some acrylic out of the frag tank that I could repurpose. Jumped on my Cnc router and cut a base and magnet pockets. So made a quick frag rack

I'm thinking about making a corner rack. do you have any shots of the rack in white light or dry? curious about the magnet attaching to the acrylic

Not yet but will soon. The items I intend to make will be: dosing hose holder, probe holder, ato holder, taller partition for skimmer area ( it's at 7 inches of water height, I need 8-8.5), cleaner sleeker frag rack, and then I plan on making reactors as I need then

Guess where the jist of the below quote is from.
What do we say to the manufacturer when they try to make you use a specialty size sock.

And then you remember you have a Cnc and spare polycarbonate.....
Not today

So I needed to raise the water level in the skimmer section but I didn't want to permanently change anything so I made a slide on riser.

Nice craftsmanship! I also have a question about the frag rack. How are you sealing the magnets? I made some crappy optical sensor holders because I can't make myself pay $35 each for the apex ones. I sealed the magnets by coating with aquarium safe silicon and I am worried about rusting. Any thoughts or better options?

I would worry about the silicone eventually falling off. I made a pocket in a .375 thick piece of acrylic and used Weldon 4 to bond it to the base plate. My next endeavor is to make enclosures for magnets. I will use .25 thick acrylic and pocket it on each side put the magnet inside and bond them together. From there they can be used for the base of multiple applications. With the clear acrylic you can see if they are ever rusting. Another proactive step I took was to source magnets that were epoxy coated. This is a bit of extra insurance against corrosion if the bond of the acrylic was to ever fail.
I was thinking of making those pucks and magnets and selling them online for a reasonable price, like eBay or something similar, for us hobbyists as a kit, you would just need to sandwich them together and bond them and use for any application.

So on a bad note I'm having a nitrate spike and losing some sps and some others are turning brown. Se la vie. Zoas are doing welll though.
On a positive note I've had some time to screw around with making some more items. I've been making initial versions of the magnets pucks namely.

I got the third light mount in. I had 3 hydra 52s on my 125, so I figured why not just mount it and run lower intensity.
