Has anybody used this unit and how do you like it. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-6-stage-universal-water-saver-plus-ro-di-system-150gpd.html
I am looking to replace my 10+ year old Typhoon III and stumbled across this sale at BRS. With their $10 off coupon it comes to a total of $221 and they are offering free 2-3 day shipping on orders of $249 or more. I use a lot of RODI water so I like the water saver feature (although I will probably need to add a booster pump). My well water has very high TDS so I am thinking the dual stage DI filters will help.
Any comments on this unit would be appreciated.

Thanks Alton. I pulled the plug and ordered one. It is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. Once I get it hooked up I will post about how it works. The only thing it doesn't have is a auto flush on the membranes. I am not real big on automated systems so it is not a big deal and I am use to flushing the membrane manually. I have been looking a new unit for over a year and this one gives everything I want at a amazing price. My first thought was the ad had a typo and when I added it to my cart the price didn't change.

Well I got it hooked up and it definitely makes a lot more water than my old unit. My TDS entering the unit is running around 28-34 and is at 0 after the filters and the DI resin. This is nice to see since my old unit never could get the TDS to 0. My only complaint is all the red tubing leaked where it was inserted into the connectors. I had enough extra blue tubing and replaced all the red. No more leaks. I was concerned that I would need a booster pump to increase the PSI and may still get one, although my PSI is holding steady at 50. So far I am very pleased with this unit, especially since I got it at a great price.

Glad to hear it working! If your tds entering the system is really that low, you membranes and resin should last a while too!

This time of year my TDS is much lower than during the summer and late spring so I would expect that to vary by the seasons. I also have a hand held TDS meter to verify what the inline TDS meter is reading. The filter array in this unit appears to be much better at removing stuff than my old unit. They do advertise that this unit is suitable for well water. One thing I am sure of is I won't leave it running into my 45 gallon Brute over night. It filled the Brute halfway within a few hours yesterday. It use to take all day to get the same amount of water.

I added a float and auto shutoff to my rodi and brute setup. Has worked beautifully.

I have a couple of float valves and auto shutoffs I can add to my Brute's. My concern is creating too much pressure on the plumbing from my pressure tank and spring a leak. I will add them as a safety precaution but don't really want to have to use them. My RODI unit is plumbed directly into a faucet from my pressure tank. With my luck I could end up with water all over the backyard and no water to the house.

Hmm...my water comes in at 70psi. With the auto shutoff kit for the rodi (from brs) I've never had an issue. Not exactly sure what that involves on the rodi because I ordered it included

I just reread what I typed yesterday and forgot the 0 behind the TDS readings. In the summer months my TDS will go as high as 500+. In the past my membranes lasted about 3 years, filters life span is about 2-3 months and DI resin about 2 months. Eventually I want to add a two stage prefilter system with a 10 micron sediment filter and a 5 micron carbon block filter to this system, along with a booster system
The plumbing for my pressure tank is 30 years old and I worry about it starting to leak when water is suddenly shut off due to a sudden/temporary increase in pressure.

Just remember RO systems do not work as well with the colder water temps

Quick update. I added another canister and 5 micron filter to the RODI unit as a prefilter. This should help keep the main unit much cleaner and reduce the number of times I have to change the 1 micron filters, membranes and DI resin. My PSI is still about 50 and my TDS is still 0. This unit is making enough water in 3-4 hours to last me a couple of days as opposed to the old unit which could barely make enough water in 12 hours to last 1 day. Very Happy.
P.S. I made water the day before yesterday when it was 74' and will have to run it tomorrow at 54'.
