Hey folks!

This is my first and only reef tank. It took me about a good 6 months to get everything in some sort of equilibrium. I current have my clean up crew which consists of Scarlet Hermit crabs (5) Emerald Crab (2) Pencil Sea Urchin (2) Sea serpent (3) Peppermint Shrimp (5) Feather Duster (3) and one very weird Dolabella Sea Slug. I had purchased a Diamond Golby and It jumped out of the tank. I found him all shriveled up on the carpet. I couldn't believe it. Additionally I also have 2 damsels. They constantly harass each other. I decided that I would like to have maybe 3 or 4 fish in the tank that are..well...awesome and exotic. I was looking at a Lion fish or a puffer fish but it was explained to me that they would eat pretty much my entire clean up crew. Any suggestions on what would make a great "exotic" reef safe fish for my tank?

Thanks,
Shaun.

I should mention that I also have 2 purple pulsing xenia frags, two brain corals, and two button polyp frags in the tanks as well.

What size tank? Keep in mind those damsels will probably need to go at some point as they are some mean buggers.

I have a 100 gallon tank. I'd like to get rid of the damsels but I can't seem to catch em! They are some quick little guys!

Have you tried making a DIY fish trap? Cut a water bottle in half then glue it back together with the top facing in and put some food in!

I have used a vase and zip lock bag as a fish trap. Worked great.

As for fish, cant go wrong with a yellow OR kole tang, any reef safe wrasses, pair of clowns.

Try using a mirror as well. That's how I caught one I foolishly had one in my tank. I would highly suggest you invest in a screen topping of some kind to keep your fish (money) protected. With that said, I would get rid of the damsels and opt for the following in your tank:

Cardinals- Bangaii's or Pajamas
Flasher Wrasse
Any reef safe wrasse would be fine
Firefish - you're going to need a tank cover
Midas Blenny
Tail spot Blenny
Foxface- One spot variety, everything else will get too big
Chromis- you will need to feed frequently to avoid aggression

Diamond gobys are awesome to help clean your sand, but pretty much all gobys and blennys are jumpers. I hate it when they go carpet surfing. Screen tops for the win.

BRS sells a really awesome DIY screen top kit that's not too hard to put together and is relatively inexpensive compared to the price of some of these fish.
