Who Am I ?

Edited- never mind about the ID. I scraped it off this morning and it appears to have been some really weird algae type that I haven't encountered before.
It was hollow on the inside and felt more like plastic than soft.

We've had a few issues in our tank over the last few weeks due to too many changes in the system at once.
This is my way of saying to please ignore the algae bloom.

Over the past week and a half, since the bloom, we noticed something growing at the top of one of our overflows- it looks like a soft coral of some sort and it is growing very fast. We don't know what it is, where it came from, or why it likes our overflow- it just appeared one day as a tiny translucent tan blob.
We don't have anything that remotely resembles this anywhere else else in our tank and have an sps dominant (mostly frags right now) system although we do have some zoas/palys, a duncan colony, and a few shrooms. At first, I thought it might be a mushroom of some sort but it's becoming clear that it isn't since it's way too thick and it appears to thrive under bright light.

It's gotta go, whatever it is, but I was wondering if anyone could ID this thing?
It's roughly 1.5" wide, about .5"-.75" thick in spots, and expands away from the overflow by a bit over an inch.
If it continues growing at the current pace, it will be close to double the size this time next week. Part of me says to leave it alone temporarily to see what it does but at the rate it's growing, i'm pretty sure we don't want this in our tank for long.
