Actually I did this years ago in a 29 gallon tank that even contained open brains. He never messed with anything, and slept under them at night. But very quickly he out grew the tank.

It's actually pretty hardy... would take a lot to kill it. Not sure if that's just the case with the coral or if the 5 years with me has put it through its paces. :o

It does grow super slow which is why it still commands the price it does.

It does. My green torch loves the flow it gets. The thing stretches out almost as tall as the tank height. My other eupyhllia love the flow as well. Definitely one of my showcase pieces in my tank.

Haha yea I should work on my photo skills and maybe my finger skills too. I love Sahols but this guy smacks everyone in the tank. I knew there was a chance he would be mean and that's why I bought him smaller than all the other tangs but he grew larger faster than them and now rules the tank like a mad man. He is my favorite fish.

Reefnub do your t5s have individual reflectors? What t5 is it? That makes a big difference.

I also have 6-hydra 52 leds with the 4 t5 in my canopy. I do see really great growth under the 2-t5 next to each other in the center of my tank. Crazy how well they grow corals.

Thanks! I know! I can't take a good picture of my ice fire echinata to save my life! The contrast of the super beaming white with the bright blue is a nightmare for cameras.

Alton the story behind the chalice goes back several years. I actually grew the coral under aquatic life t5 and it pretty much covered the rock. But I switched to hydra52 which are very nice . But the coral did not like it and it died or almost. I was miserable but I went back to Ati t5 and its growing and growing fast. You can see pieces of the chalice in the back. Hence the reason why I prefer hybrids over straight t5 or straight led.

I totally forgot what name was when I bought it from JJs store zephyr aquatics many years back it seems. It get orange maybe even gold with t5 and leans itself to a gold mummy eye but I thought it was a bubble gum monster . Before I nuked it with LEDs it turned green. What color is your chalice? Here is a 9 day old H. comes catching breakfast. I managed to catch it just after it had snicked food with a silhouette of the snick superimposed in the picture. Yes this was all caught on one frame. That is how fast they can move when they are hungry.

Most of the "shortcake" acros are from the acropora microclados genus. Can't tell if that is one until it grows out more but could be.

I thought you grew sps :) colors don't usually mature in a tank for a while. Sometimes a long time. If it's a frag of rainbow shortcake then I got a good deal at $15 . Either it is or it isn't it's a nice encrusted frag.

Well I put 1/4 amount needed for my tank with bio pellets ( ecobak+ ) and would think the fish load I have I would have enough nit to stay around 5 but no so I have to add nit and dose 5 ml a day when I remember and phos is at .02 cuz I stopped running gfo to see how that would go. Anyhow I was hoping this tank would run like my 65g which was hands off and had 0 phos and 0 nit which had good color and growth and did water changes every month and grew out from frags in 2 yrs to have no room left and corals growing out of the water. With leds the whole time. My tank now has been finicky for the entire time I have had it running. Alk has been up and down and coukdnt find lighting setting I was happy with or schedule which I have now and plan to leave alone. Skimmer seems to be working good but feel it could be better but don't have the money to upgrade. Chiller crapped out so I'm running 82 instead of 78. Some corals are brown and can't get to color up and some are good. Take out brown and replace with new colored maybe time to give up on those guys. I've got some corals dying right now and there is also something that floats around the lands on a sps and kills that spot if the coral which I can't figure out but the coral fixes itself with time. Just frustrating.

Well it looks like you're getting it close to being just right. Its that fun SPS dance we subject ourselves to out of pure enjoyment of torture.

Keep reducing the amount of biopellets until you get 5ppm, its much less hassle than daily dosing.

Lighting seems to be handled. The alk will stabilize more when all corals are happy and growing. You can always just run a small clip on fan and blow it over your sump. That kept my tank cool despite three 250 watt MHs on my old tank.

The brown will go away once all things are stable again. I'm not sure about the floating things though... Any idea where they are coming from?

I can't count the number of times I've had setbacks. In this hobby there is so much info and gear, that I for one, have a tendency to fiddle a little too much with my tank. As Awais mentioned, patience is a much needed supplement for our reef tanks. SPS I feel need a lot of it, almost as much as lighting, consistency and flow!

Right now, I'm trying to recover from a too high of an alk swing fiddling with my calcium reactor and look forward to not messing around with anything.....too much.

I can't count the number of times I've had setbacks. In this hobby there is so much info and gear, that I for one, have a tendency to fiddle a little too much with my tank. As Awais mentioned, patience is a much needed supplement for our reef tanks. SPS I feel need a lot of it, almost as much as lighting, consistency and flow!

Right now, I'm trying to recover from a too high of an alk swing fiddling with my calcium reactor and look forward to not messing around with anything.....too much.

Look into the Masterflex peristaltic pump and cal/Alk stability will be checked.

Man those are nice but I’m scared to put a nem in my tank as I’m scared it would wonder the tank and kill things and settle where I couldn’t see it. Which I don’t think I need any help killing my sps lol.

I've never had issue with one walking and killing SPS unless it wasn't happy or recently split.

Well you got me they don’t walk they hop as they on have one foot lol. Well I guess one day I will have to try one out. They are beautiful and have always wanted to keep one. As far r now I have to focus on getting my tank back to healthy. I gotta spend some money on some equipment.
