Figured I would share my latest DIY..

My $79 "Vortech" battery backup:


24v 18ah battery - $35
Same ah that Vortech uses in theirs.
Battery tender Jr - $25
3 1.3mm DC panel mount jacks - $8
Digital voltage display $6
3 Vortech backup cables $5


Just need a can of white paint and a blue Vortech sticker 

Did you use 2 x 12v battery's to get 24v?

No just one 12v, the pumps will run at half speed instead of full speed.
