Softie setup

After years and countless iterations, I am going to turn my drilled 29 BioCube into a softie tank. I have about a 7 gallon sump where I am going to house a skimmer and plan on GFO as well as filter pads and biological filtration. Opinions on setting up mangrove or something like that? Chaeto?

I am going to do lots of zoa and paly,as well as some euphyllia, and ricordia, possibly duncans. I want a mandarin, finally, and a few more fish, a jawfish of some sort. Any suggestions on fish?

Sand bottom, or bare? DSB for jawfish, I know.

I really could use some help setting up the sump...what features, live rock in sump, refugium mud, everything. I would like this to get off the ground rather quickly, so don't wait to suggest stuff.

I perfer bare bottom personally, and I'd go for cheeto for a fellow hobbyist to kickoff your pod population. As for features in the sump, it depends on the dimensions. I've never ran a sump that small so others may have to chime in.

With a 29 gallon biocube, I don't believe you'd have sufficient surface area for a dsb, nor is the tank tall enough (imo) to run a 4-6" sand bed

+1 to what Zach said, i would also keep your bio load low just to make cleaning all that much more easier. I have a 36 gallon bow front and only have 3 fish. Before the crash i had 6 and HAD to clean each week. Now once a month and everyone is happy. Just my opinion on that.
