I'm designing the layout for my 320g that's getting built and I was wondering what's everybody's thoughts about placing a chiller and carbon/gfo reactor in the garage. The tank sits on the other side of the wall inside the house. Do you think by having a small amount of water running through the equipment it will slowly cause the tank to overheat? I know I have a chiller but I don't plan on having it on unless the Apex senses a temp swing.

I've known quite a few people who have had success with this method. I would definitely do it, given your layout. The bulky noisy hot chiller (even a good one) would be perfect for the garage.

I don't think it would be an issue. Having a sump in the garage would be a different story though.

No problem with the plumbing in the garage. The chiller is a different story. It should be outside. The temperature in a garage probably tops 120 degrees. That's REALLY tough on a chiller. Remember, it's a heat exchanger.
