Join the MAAST Board of Directors at Justin's house on Sunday October 11th at 2 PM for a workshop on aquascaping and creating landscapes with your hardscape! One lucky member will walk away with some free Rocks to start off your Rockscape.

I will be there. I saw his skills and what he created yesterday. It is some awesome rock work, not to mention how he planned in a frag tank and pod propagation system below the tank. WOW!

So I talked it over with some folks, and since my wife is going to cooking school. She has agreed to prepare for us some Red Beans and Rice and fresh biscuits for the meeting. I know its a little lame to mention it, but my wife makes some mean Red Beans & Rice. So come out to check out some info on rockscaping a reef tank, I'll demo tools that I use to get it done and different strategies and some good home cooking!

Don't forget, I need you to comment on this thread if you plan on coming and how many so that we can make the right amount for everyone.

I am really looking forward to seeing how you made such amazing rock work. I would love to be able to incorporate some of it into my tanks. Also, do you need us to bring anything, more food, rocks, tools, etc.

We ordered some rocks from Marco Rocks and BRS for the demo. I'm actually going to pre drill the rocks and show how I assembled everything during the meeting. I will show everyone the process and the tools that I used to achieve the look I have. The group will be providing the food and refreshments. You don't really need to bring anything else unless you want to.

Justin, thank you so much much for your presentation it was very helpful. I have already started dry stacking the rocks on the stand that I received yesterday after your presentation and am really enjoying it. Here is a photo of my first prototype. Also, the tubbs are looking great. Thank you again.

That is already a awesome tank and it is just going to become more fabulous as everything continues to grows out. Way to go Justin.

I'm guessing with his wife's cooking, Justin's going to grow out nicely along with his tank.

Looking good Lelia. I would secure the arch with zip ties and then cover up the zip ties with aqua weld. Once that dries, lay some glue on top of it and sprinkle rubble and sand from the rockwork to fully conceal it. Looking good and you are of course welcome.

Last night she learned how to make Churros in school. Thank god she didn't bring any home. I can't complain, my life is good!

It was my pleasure. We can do it again anytime. As you can tell, I have plenty of room to host a nice get together. Hopefully next time, my corals will be at epic proportions. I can probably show the folks how I programmed my apex next time.

Turn out wasn't that bad. Lelia made out like a bandit with free rocks from my demonstration. Hope to see you at the next one.

Curious as to what rocks were used? Particularly the lightweight flat rocks.

Justin

The rocks in my system are predominately from Marco Rocks. He has them labeled shelf rock I believe. They are pretty nice and definitely allow for some interesting rock scapes for creating coral placement locations

Justin, this is all your fault. LOL I created another one out of some old plastic rocks I had laying around. It's not finished yet, but it is coming along.

Thanks Justin, sometimes I surprise myself with what I can make with junk and some power tools. Been thinking about cutting those fake rocks apart for the last couple of years. After your presentation I knew what I wanted to do with them.

It seems to be contagious, even one of my skimmers is growing a bonsai shelf.
