I did a quick search and didnt find what I was looking for. I'm looking at getting a PH Meter and have been reading reviews on amazon for the last few days, but what im looking for is any experience you may have with a certain Meter. Obviously I want it to be reliable but i dont want to break the bank either over using a simple test kit.

I would think the best way if you are wanting to follow your PH closely is to buy a controller APEX or DA and then a PH probe? I am not a big PH follower, I know it is low in the morning but picks up in the afternoon. The only time I check it is when I use a QT tank and first setting up a new aquarium

I have this one that's done me well over the past couple months. Also, just an FYI... Im looking into upgrading to an apex control system on my new tank to monitor a calcium reactor, so if you're interested Id be willing to sell this one for $85. I have a new PH replacement probe still in the original package. Just thought I would toss it out there.

Are you looking for a Ph monitor or controller?

Don't go chasing pH. It's not bad to know what it is, but seriously don't try to correct for it....in most cases.
For the price of a pH meter, I'd recommend getting yourself a controller. This would get you pH monitoring and get your foot into the door with a full fledged controller. Switched outlets is a huge selling point for me.
I personally run a ReefAngel but most controllers come with a pH probe in their kits, which are usually internet capable as well so you can monitor/log. I don't have much experience with other controllers, so I'll let others chime in on what kits they recommend (assuming you are interested in that route).
This is what the ReefAngel pH monitoring looks like.

Thanks for the inputs. The funny thing is that I'm a electrician and a automation coordinator for a oil and gas producer and I don't have my tank automated yet lol. I have been considering a controller then building it up over time.

You may actually like the ReefAngel then. It's Arduino-based and the interface for programming it is a modified Arduino IDE. It also has a wizard in case you don't want to write your own code.
