Or the beginning of a 300 gallon build. Been off Maast for way too long. So quiet on here. Now that there's a light at the end of the tunnel for my dreadful time spent here in Hawaii (heavy sarcasm). I'm planning my come back tank for when I move back to the mainland. Hopefully San Antonio again. Started building the stand for it which will hold a 96x24x30 tank.

My progress to date. Been a slow build. Army isn't very forthcoming with free time. Plus I have to enjoy the island ;)

Ha, welcome back Mike. Building the stand before you have a tank and quite a few miles away, now that's dedication!

You can support a Mini Cooper on that thing.

Thanks Robert. Been too long gone. Been too busy with the army to even do a fowlr. I'm counting my chickens before they hatch. But I'm eager ha ha. I'm going to toss a 75 gallon I have laying around on it until I leave island to hold me over. I still have 6 to 8 months left here. I'm going to try my hand at making an acrylic tank. Might start with a sump first ha ha.

Thanks man. It'll be slow. But it'll be worth it.

You can support a Mini Cooper on that thing.
Hopefully. It'll need to support about 3500lbs. The base is 2x4s all biscuit joined every 4", with a 2x4 box and 4x4 supports and angle braces. It better hold it. Trying to get away with no center brace but may put one in. Well see.:rolleyes:

Stayed up late and eaten alive by mosquitos to do some staining and some more of the accent pieces. I'll be "deep in the J" all week but hopefully I can finish it this weekend. More accents then doors and some designs on the open areas.

Drained and cleaned the tank im going to be using for now. Got it with the cheap stand for 100 bucks. But that cheap stand started peeling and splitting with the humidity here. Kind of spurred the build.

And in with the new. Just testing to make sure it won't bow before I finish the doors and designs on them.

A little PSA too. I was having PH issues in my tank when it was running. Decided to do some investigating. Took a magnet to my substrate and founds quite a bit of iron rock with rust on them. Should have checked it originally. Got all the big suckers out. Hopefully that'll help

Ha ha. In due time alton. Rock is now in the tank and cycling. I have some LR to help speed it up as well DR. Tims. So in a couple weeks I'll start stocking.

Been holding water weight no issue with no bowing or settling. Started filling her up the other day

Got the rock back in the tank. Been sitting in the sun for a few months. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/30/214631627ea78fb1d4cf191acc9b026e.jpg
Have a chunk of LR in there to help get it going and Dr. Tims. Should be stocking here in a couple weeks.

Thanks Chris, it is beautiful here. But living on an Island is a little tiring. Love it here. Just looking forward to moving back to the mainland.

Well the sumps been cycling for almost a month and the tank for a weeks. I would have preferred to waited a little longer to put a fish in. But I came across a dwarf golden eel for free. And you don't pass that up. Between the LR and Dr Tims and against my better judgment he seems to be doing fine. He has free range of the tank and live shrimp to hunt. He's loving life.
