Everbody wants their tank to look amazing. What do you use to keep your tank spotless? What precautions do you take to not scratch the glass in the process?

I use a mag float with a easy blade scraper attached to it. Works very well for cleaning glass. I have learned that you must be very careful to not move the scraper side ways, I now have a few scratches in my glass from the razor.

I use a "flipper"...and wish I'd bought it years ago! Just make sure you're not scraping it sideways and keep the magnet out of the sand.

You just sold me on the flipper. I just want on Amazon and bought one. It has incredible reviews. Up until now I've but using a mag float throughout the week and a Kent glass scrapper for a deep clean.

Hope it works well for you. I read the online review too. It won't get ALL the hard stuff off...but it'll get most of it, and now I only clean with a scraper every month or less.

This! The Flipper Mag is an awesome tool. Super powerful and cuts right through coralline algae or you can flip it in the tank to swipe off the green dust algae. Every tank needs one.

I got one for each of my tanks. They are awesome. It does not work very well on the curved front of the biocube though. (the scraper side)

Are anyone of you using these on low iron glass?

When you say Low Iron glass there are several manufactures of tanks like my Marineland (2010) and my old Oceanic (since 2003) that used a harder low iron glass and I have no scratches (not that I know of). I know the Oceanic glass is Starphire from PPG, I am not sure about the Marineland? John (Ex-President) had a smaller tank with low iron glass and it scratched very easy, and I have seen other post where some have complained.

I didn't know that about low iron glass. Scratching easy is why I was stearing away from acrylic in my next tank and was going to go low iron.

From my understanding low iron (starphire) is actually more scratch prone. I'm actually in the market for an acrylic cleaner now too for my new pico.

The Flipper has a hard rubber blade for acrylic but I never used it, only the metal blade for glass.

is the metal blade a razor?

It's not a razor per say but it is a strong strip of stainless. It rips through coralline like nobody's business.

It may be. I've never used the blade for acrylic so don't know for sure.

Sounds like an edge similar to the Kent scrapers.

Just make sure who ever builds your tank uses PPG Starphire, not just something labeled as low iron
