I will have an Apex Jr with Display and Temp Probe that I will be giving away. Just felt like doing something to get the traffic going on MAAST. Let me know if your interested. The controller in my opinion is one of the best controllers out there and it will be brand spanking new!

Sorry guys, the Apex is for Charter members only. So I apologize, $25 bucks for an Apex if you haven't chartered up. If you are a charter than its just "gravy" for you

You have to be made official and payment accepted by the treasurer to be considered for it.

Go to the top and find the membership tab. It has details on how to do it:
Membership http://www.maast.org/images/cms/edit_small.png (http://www.maast.org/content.php?19-MaastMembership/edit) http://www.maast.org/images/misc/rss_40b.png (http://www.maast.org/external.php?do=rss&type=newcontent§ionid=19&days=120&count=10)
Dues are for a year long membership which starts from the date of payment. These dues quickly pay for themselves by the discounts given that many local stores honor to MAAST members.
We are trying to make our club better, having more educational meetings, more door prizes, raffle items and guest speakers. We also have the routine maintenance items like website, food for meetings,, membership dues to national marine organizations, and print/publication fee's. Membership dues allow our club to keep afloat and make all of this possible. As always, the website portion of the club remains free but charters due get some perks.
Why collect dues?
Keep MAAST afloat.
Funds club meetings so the host doesn't have to pay for it all out of pocket.
Allows for website improvements / maintanence.
Allows us to bring in "expert" speakers at meetings.
Higher quality raffles, higher quality meetings, higher quality club!
Eligibility to run for a club office.
Eligibility to serve as a moderator.
Eligibility to VOTE!
Discounts at participating LFS's and online vendors.
A custom avatar on the website.
The privilege of initiating sales/trades.

That's quite an awesome gesture. Forums are such a great resource. I'm sure everyone here has helped someone at some point and has received help. I think the big thing to realize is that activity is what keeps a forum going without it it dies. Then when we need help we come to s forum and realize not many people are active anymore.
I really have to take my hat off and applauded you for such an awesome gesture. I've been ad admin on a couple of forums and know how much time and effort it takes.
I would say count me in. But I'm going to take the approach of saying count me out of this one since I'm not physically in San Antonio yet.

We'd like to thank Randy and the team at Pollys Pets for providing us with the Apex to make this all possible!

I'm a little confused. The original post made it sound like Justin, out of the goodness of his heart, bought and planned on giving the Apex away to whomever he chose but the last posts makes it sound like this was donated and is a MAAST giveaway.

The apex controller is a MAAST item, which was given to the group by Polly's Pets. Anyone who is a charter member is eligible to win the controller as it will be given away at the next meeting as a door prize for one lucky charter member. For anyone interested in the controller, I strongly encourage you to attend this upcoming meeting at Polly's Pets, where (1) lucky winner will be drawn from all eligible charter members present.
This thread was created to gauge the interest of the club body for an Apex controller. I apologize to anyone who may have felt lead on or misinformed, but in keeping with the original post on this thread;
there is a FREE Apex available for any charter member to win at this upcoming Meeting on the 20th of June (this is a Saturday) at 3pm.
Date: Saturday June 20th
Time: 3PM
Location: Polly's Pet Shop at 940 Pat Booker Rd, Universal City, TX 78148
Speakers: StevenSeas & Precision Marine
We will be raffling a Neptune Systems AquaController Apex Jr. with Display, Temp Probe

MattK: True, there will be an Apex controller free to one lucky member. In my next post, I emphasized that in order to win it, you must be a charter member. My apologies for the confusion this may have caused but if you charter up, you will have an opportunity to win the controller. Last month, one lucky charter member walked off with a full Digital SLR camera; complete with case, macro lens, red lens and other accessories.

Yea definitely not clear at all. I'll be in an exercise for a few weeks during the meeting as I am deploying soon so I am in my work up. That is incredibly disappointing. This would have given me some confidence and security in my tank while deployed for 9 months.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't going to put my hat in the ring anyways since I already have an Apex. Hopefully someone who could use it will win it.

This is a great idea to get MAAST moving again. MAAST had always been the go-to for me, but as of recent it has slowed to almost a stop I feel. I of course would love to have a controller as I do not have one. Funny how I was looking at them the other day and found myself opening my wallet with a grim look on my face :/ following along to see what becomes of all this :)
