I'm brand new to the hobby and just bought my first coral today, while dipping the coral I notice that the rock my Zoa was on was hollow and inside was some type of worm. during the dip it receded back into the rock and wasn't able to grab it. I know some worms can eat coral, it was relatively small and reddish orange and darker red at the tapered end. If anyone knows what its is and if its harmful it would be a great if you could help. Thank you.

Hello Mike. What type of solution did you dip the coral frag in? If you used a coral dip then you likely killed the worm and won't need to worry.

It was likely a bristle worn which are very common. Some types are beneficial to your aquariums clean up crew.

Coral rx is what I used, I had heard of some bristle worms were good just didn't want it being a fireworm. They say there rare but knowing my luck who knows.

The Coral Rx likely smoked it anyway. :)
