So i removed my old chiller from my system and started using an ITC-1000 temp controller, problem is, the differential on this thing is +/- 1degreeF. Thats a frigging 2degree swing!

After doing some light research, I stumbled upon firmware for the stc-1000!

Yes, its aimed at homebrew, but its got the precision aquarium geeks need. There is even a site that sells pre-flashed and assembled controllers: http://www.boostbysmith.com/stc1000.html a bit pricey, i'll try my hand at making it myself *lol*

here's the itc-1000 box im using now w/ the 2 degree swing.

Man is there a limit to what you can DIY?
Very impressive.

So i emailed that guy if he'd do the controller w/o his whole box (seeing that i already made one). He's willing to sell the controller w/ soldered on header and usb flasher w/ matching header for $60+shipping. $20 for the flasher, $20 to solder on the header (tiny bit high, but it looks liek a pain, so probably worth it!), $20 for an stc-1000 (sure, cheaper on amazon, but why bother w/ the hassle to shipping it to him).

So hopefully I'll have a controller w/ +/- 0.1 °F on my system (0.2°F swing), opposed to +/- 1.0 °F (2.0°F swing). I'll probably play with 0.5°F to 0.3°F differencial, 0.1°F will most likely cause relays and switches to burn out w/ their overuse. I tossed in an extra 10 bux if he'd just flash the stc for me while i was at it.
