So I am looking for help building a stand for a 180 gallon to a 215 gallon reef ready tank. If anyone is interested in helping please let me know. I will purchase all the materials for the build possibly beer/pizza. I think this would be a great way to make some new friends and learn something while I am at it.
Let me know.
Thanks MIKE

Ive got a chop saw you can use and a drill. You will need 2x4, screws (i used both deck and outdoor screws), heavy duty levelers. I forgot the website i used but if i find it, ill add the link. With all that, you can build the skeleton of the stand. The hard part is the skin and making it look clean.

By the way does anyone have a truck to load wood? Also ideas for a sump I was thinking a 100 gallon long under a 180 would be great with tons of room for skimmers and what not.

I can take frag, beer and pizza as payment. I would love to see your tank either way. I know you lost your clams and some monti's but still worth the view.

You should look into the kreg jig for Pocket holes. Putting a stand together this way makes it really structurally sound. I have built my last couple of stands this way and will always do so in the future.

For the one you need that includes the clamp it's about $100 plus screws.

Equipment needed: Chop saw, drill (ratchet drill is easier) and drill bits. Kreg Jig will give you a much cleaner look.
Material: lumber and screws (the ones with the star drive are much easier).
There are a lot of videos and plans on the internet.
A work bench does make it easier. This is what I do with commercially available aquarium stands. A set of wheels, top for the saw, a sliding drawer on top for screws and magnets to hold tools. I don't like them for aquariums because you can't get a sump in or out without breaking down the tank. LOL

Here are a couple of links. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169964

When I build a stand I want to be able to slide a sump into or out of the stand. This means I have to have a opening wide enough for the sump. This can then be covered with a removable panel that is held in place with magnets.

Sure, although I don't skin the stands I build because I want good air circulation to keep them cool and easy access to add stuff to the sumps. There are others here that have built some beautiful professional quality stands. Here are a couple of photos of the stand "theZombie" built for a DSA 65 I bought from him.
