Man this seams way off. Have you added any chenicals or treatments to the water? I wound start to quarantine items that show issues. I'm thinking its either chemical issue that you can't test for or bacteria infection of some sort.

I don't add chemicals I add KalK but my calcium is at 500. I need someone to come over and take a look i dont know what I am looking for. No one even knows why my clams died. I am mega confused.

Some are more sensitive. How long has it been since you changed lighting? New hydra is much much more powerful than the old lights.
What at about any accidental cleaning products getting into the aquarium? I'd start running carbon in the meantime.

What type of carbon? Did you start running it after the clam died to clean up the system?

Are you skimming pretty heavy and do you have any biopellets installed on your tank. My corals would do the same thing when I had my biopellet reactor up and running. My water was becoming way too clean and the corals would slowly start to die with RTN over the course of days. Have you changed your Carbon and GFO recently as well?

I do run a phosband reactor and no my skimmer doesn't run hard at all

RoX carbon has reeked havoc in my system whenever I've used it. Even when using it at 1/2 the dosage, certain corals will bleach everytime.

Posgate carbon? Have you been running it all along?

From the pictures it looks like just your Montiporas' were effected. Is this correct?

Fri, 17th Apr 2015, 03:30 PM
Yeah just the montoporas and digitas the easy crap to keep have been effected

Have you checked for Monti eating Nudis?
Justin

If you have them, you should see horseshow or circular "bite" marks on the coral flesh. You should be able to see the eggs as well on the base of the corals. If its just your monti species, I would go with Troy's assumption that you have monti nudi's.

A Digitata is a type of Montipora.

Does it look fuzzy where the bleached area touches the colored area. Almost like the xooanthelle is flaking off.

Suck up some water with a syringe or turkey baster from the bleached and healthy areas of the coral. Put the water in a clear container and shine a light on it. You should see the nudis if the coral has them.

I'm sure others will chime in but bayer dip them my friend and also qt the corals for awhile to observe you got rid if them. For the main tank, not so sure what to do.... Perhaps a mandarin or pipefish?

I used lugols solution to get rid of them. First get a five gallon bucket or a container that can hold your colonies. Then fill it up with tank water, add 30 drop to 2 gallons of tank water. Stir up the water. Now add the colonies to the container. Use a turkey baster as a pressure washer to blow off all areas of the coral. Especially underneath where they tend to hide. Do this for 15min, then put the colonies in another container of tank water to rinse the coral off before adding it to the DT. Do this with all of your Montis. Unfortunately you will need to do this several times before they will be eraticated. Call me if you have any questions 210-two 8 nine-6732.
