Hello fellow reefers,
Does anybody have any insite in flying with corals? I travel all over and it would be nice to have a go to method of bringing them home. Do different airlines have different rules? Do you have to check it or can you carry onboard? What type of leakproof container works best? Any info would be appreciated.

I flew on the plane with a box of zoa's from the Dallas MACNA. I had the corals packed in urine cups and went through security fine. I spoke with the TSA agent and let them know they were animals and probably should not be x-rayed. I flew Southwest. Hope this helps but I think it depends on the amount of liquid used and the individual airlines. If you need to check them, I would just put them in a foam insulated box and mark fragile, live animals on them. I'm sure that is how they do it normally for most imports anyway.

Thanks guys for your help with this. I appreciate it. I'm going to give it a shot it a couple weeks when I fly to Amarillo. I've got a fellow reefer I'm bringing some coral to.

I recently brought stuff back from Detroit. I put the corals in two thermos and then put the thermos in an insulated soft lunchbox. Worked out fine.
