can anyone identify these critters for me? they dont appear to be harming any thing

i just googled limpet snail and doesnt appear to be it. thanks though

It is a Chiton. It have a shell that have 8 separate plates

I have a bunch in my tank. I have one species of Chiton that reproduced in my tank but only get to about 1/2 inch.

X2 on the chiton. I was always scared they were eating my coralline

They are not. I think you likely got the same Chiton species as mine, only grow to less than 1/2 inch. They eat algae I guess including coralline algae. Keep my tank clean. My coralline grow so fast that even the sand have coralline (larger coral rubble). I keep three sea Urchin in my tank so that they eat the coralline which cause a heterogenic pattern that is more natural and better looking on the rock.
