I saw the video of bulk reef supply challenging the "DIY King" but I dont think I could fit 2 5 gallon buckets under my tank anymore. I have a drain under it already so I might just put a 15 gallon tank as the new saltwater container and have the old water just drain out. I would be using my apex to make sure my ato and water change systems dont go and activate at the same time although it would take a few mess ups for it to mess up my salinity. So right now I was thinking to put the new water in the 15 gallon tank as mentioned above then have a overflow in my sump so as the new water is pumped in the old water will drain out. One problem I notice now is that a power outage would drain out a lot of water from the display and as the power came back on it might burn out my return pump. So that might be a dead end as well unless I put a valve on the overflow and only turned it on as I did a faster water change opposed to the slow flow type water change I was hoping for. Anyways just wanted to bounce this off yall and see if anyone else had tried anything similar.

Not a bad idea at all. What I've seen people do on other forums is to use two peristaltic pumps ran off the same motor to do automatic water changes because of less room for error. They would kick on and off within a fraction of a second of each other and should move an identical amount of liquid through them

Yeah I had seen those as well. Maybe that's the simplest way to go. Plus I don't mind checking salinity weekly. It's the easiest test I have. Haha

I have mine plumbed to the drain for our wet bar. I just open the valve, drain to a line. Under the tank is a 39 gallon acrylic container. I put salt in it with a mixing pump. Just pump it quickly over to the sump for the change.

After emailing brs I decided against it. I just bought another identical trash can and pump out the amount I already have made. Then pump in the new water. Gets me about 40 gallons a week which is ~10%
