Photographing under non controllable leds

In the past, photographing under leds was never really an issue for me. A simple touch of the controller and the blues would tone down, allowing me the ability to take shots of my corals as they appear in person. Since switching to the kessil 15k, however this is not the case as the light is simply on or off. After doing some research, my fiancé suggested using red film gels. After seeing other reefers shots with the gels, I was encouraged to give it a go. I will be placing me an order for gels soon, but in the meantime I've come across an app that allows you to add gels post photography. The app is called Gelo and is 99 cents on the apple App Store. I'm still curious to see the effect the gel has, but Gelo offers several filters and ability to increase or decrease the effects and is much cheaper than buying films.

I've heard red gels/filters are supposed to help too. I've been meaning to try, maybe I should run downstairs and grab some (my company sells them here in SA).

Are all of those photos modified with Gelo?

Yes, they have a red gel filter and I modified the color tone just a tad. Robert what are your companies prices? Looking for Red and yellow. Also, how flimsy are these things? They look pretty flimsy in the pics

They are not sturdy. It's basically like cellophane, maybe a little thicker.

Apollo gels are $5 per sheet and Rosco gels are $7.25 per sheet. Quantity discounts over 25, but don't think you'll need that many. Sheets are 20"x24".

Hmmm. I may have to pick some up off of you later. That's a really great price. If you do mess wih EM let me know your thoughts. I'm curious as to how they'll work with a cellphone camera

Just make sure you use the tint option instead of add or over when using your filters!
