Is it opaque looking and encrusted the underside of the rock? I have several of these what I assume to be common sponges.

Yes,it's opaque and on underside of rock, doesn't do well exposed to direct light

Yea I several of those throughout the undersides of my exposed rock. Probably some sort of a sponge.
