I am really looking at getting a programer for my 90 I work crazy hours and want something I can log into at times and check. Does anyone have one and do you recomend getting one? Is this also a good idea for like a doser or a Cal Reactor? I am all ears lend me your thoughts.

If you're referring to a controller such as a Reefkeeper or Apex, then absolutely. I use a Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper. Once you have one, you'll never set a tank up again without it.

yes they are worth it, I've had reef keeper lite, the elite, and now an aoex. all performed well, just depends on how much you want to control and other features such as ease of connection via net. next week I may have an apex unit for sale.

What they said, the only thing I would ad is buy it from a LFS. That way if you have a problem you can take it back for service. My RKL saved my tank so many times when the AC went out by shutting down my lights when the water temp went over 79.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Apex but I have been out of this so long I am scared that I would not know how to set it up. In fact I don't know have the options on my lights or MP40 have to offer I just let them run. By the way is 500 to much for and apex?

RKL or APEX they have MAP pricing so they should be the same whether you buy it on line or the LFS. I bought my second RKL from Elegant. $129? I run my 300 on it.

It's not that bad for the rkl. The apex is kinda hard but out of the box it's pre programmed for some generic settings.

with anything new there is a learning curve. there is lots of literature out there on the apex, after you write few commands you get the hang of it. option two; Google it, i would search for let's say auto top command apex and look at a few, find ones that matched up to what I wanted to and copy paste

A controller is one of those things you buy and then you wonder why you never did it sooner....

If u are planning to log in from work or wherever then the apex is the route u should go... It can be done from the RK but with a little more headache...
