reseal 129 gallon oceanic

Hello maast members im in the process of resealing my 120 again guess I didntbdo it right the first time .so question is what type of silicone should I use. I originally sealed with branded aquarium silicone I picked up at a lfs

Do you know how the reseal failed? Water leak? I know GE silicone that is not anti mold will work just as good as an LFS brand

The only question to why the silicone did not hold was "what did you use to clean the glass before applying the silicone?"

New silicone will not adhear to old dry silicon so make sure you get all the old stuff off and do the entire tank at once. Use a razor blade to remove the old stuff and get it really clean. I can't remember what brand I used but it was not the regular aquarium brand it was an industrial strength one with a greater tensel strength. I had to order it online then I was still short 1 tube to reinstall the overflow so a had Louis from elegent order it. Elegant did carry it at one time but was out of stock at the time I needed it. Do a few google searches.
Don't skimp on the seals and get a good spread and get the seal done quickly, one or two passes with a seam tool for cauking you can get at home depot. The working time is not that long and if you keep going over the seal trying to get perfect it will bunch up and pull away from the glass. I know it looks better with a smaller bead but you won't get as much tensel strenght on the horizontal seals. You can clean it up later after it cures with a razor.

Does ge1 have the same tensile strength as asi aquarium sealant

Sorry haven't replied been really busy lately. You will have to go on the web to see the manufactures spec sheet for tensile strenght it should be listed there. And no you dont have to take the glass apart just figure out what side of the corner will not cut into the glass to glass joint to get the old silicone without going between the glass. If your leaking at the corners on the bottom my guess is you waited to long and the silicone you applied on the first seam may have skimmed over. There is a very short working time with the stuff I used. By the time you applied the seal to the other side on the bottom it had air bubbles in it of did not adheare correctly.
