Do a search on ATI bulbs and see what you may like, when i did t5 i did atleast one ge 65k bulb, ati blue plus, and purple plus, ati coral plus is nice as it hits a lot of diff spectrum's almost wanna call it a 50/50 bulb

You mean 48" 54 watt bulbs right?...
On a 4 bulb the GE is too much white, made the tank yellow..
I would do
3 ati blue plus
1 ati coral plus

Nah, it holds 4 24 inch coral life bulbs. The numbers I posted were pulled straight from the lights I have now.

if it's a odyssey fixture I think it's t5 ho, and someone didn't put correct bulbs. the coralife bulbs are lower wattage as they don't use ho ballast on their fixtures(coralife). just double check

was going by this post...... 48" bulbs are 54watts
If its 4 24" that makes it easier.... just need to know if its HO or not.

1 ati true actinic
2 ati blue plus
1 aquablue special or coral plus...

Yup I have the previous version. 3 over my 180 gal. The do not have all the bells and whistles like a storm feature but they are really good lights.

What would work with my tank? I have a few fish and some soft coral. The tank is 30g talll and most importantly, I can't spend a whole lot of money.

Not there......
This hobby u get what u pay for.
Buying bulbs for your fixture u have now will cost the same as an led. And u won't need to buy another one next yr

I agree with what jrsarx20 said. You absolutely get what you pay for and this hobby is not cheap. Personally I say couch it up and go led. It will pay off in the future. Not only with the cost for new bulbs in 9 months but the reduced charge on your electricity.

And BTW go allllll out with your protein skimmer. A good protein skimmer will save your life from a ton of headaches.

Not sure if I like leds...
Poor Boy
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 11:45 AM
Fluval eco bright 25 leds 400 lumens 7500k 6w. The day just doesn't seem all that bright...
jcnkt_ellis
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 11:51 AM
It probably will not be that bright, the leds are being ran at roughly .25 watt per led. For an led system that looks 'bright' you want the leds ran at 1 watt per led or higher.
Poor Boy
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 11:55 AM
So I should just take these back till I can afford better ones then, eh?
jcnkt_ellis
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 12:04 PM
It depends on what type of corals you are currently keeping or planning to add while you save up as it is still cheaper then buying bulbs every 6-8 months...They will most likely grow basic softies like leather corals, they might even be enough for zoas or certain sps but don't expect bright dazzling colors from them.
Poor Boy
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 12:15 PM
Ill be able to get better ones in the next month.... I'm gonnna take these back. Impulse buy...

i think your definition of dirt cheap might be a little different from mine... lol.
350gt
Fri, 13th Jun 2014, 05:51 PM
Well one of the vega's should be plenty for that tank.. So half of his asking price for both..
What fixture are you looking at getting in the coming month?
