I had a RBTA that was really healthy and split 3 ways. All 3 nems are healthy and have been doing well for months. They just haven't really grown since, anyone have any ideas?

I had one that split three ways, didn't realize until I was doing some rock work. Split them apart and while I was trying to get rid of the other two they began to expand into the area that I had them in.

You are lucky for the rbta to split like that. I got an rbta from Allan and its doing awesome, just hasnt produced a 2nd, yet.

Typically, when a Nem splits, it's due to stress or some sense of survival instinct. Is there anything messing with it?

I have mine under t5s and noticed it reacts differently to the different t5 bulbs.
white and blue it opens up, purple and blue it closes
What lighting are you using?

I'm using t5's. Nothing is bothering any of them and they're all doing well and healthy; just no growth

I was doing some reading on nem growth cause mine don't seem to be growing, my heater is in my sump so the water is cooler when it reaches the DT so I'm thinking of adding a heater to my DT to keep a constant 78 degree thru out the sump and tank to see if that helps

The heating 'issue' is a very interesting thought. I know plenty of people with awesome nems and heaters in their sumps. I think I'm gonna try to start feeding mine more, where should I pickup silversides?

I'll see what I can get them to eat; and if that helps growth or not. I've tried raw frozen shrimp in the past which mine always are but the new "clones" won't touch it

I spray mysis over my GBTA when I feed the tank and it loves it.

MAAST I had the same problem until I increased the amount of heaters in my sump and controlled it with an RKE. No problem after that.

This is what I did as well. I used to feed them heavily, then I stopped feeding them, then I tried a whole shrimp and quit that quick when they pooped up a half digested shrimp. The first time I got them to split was by feeding daily with the Polarbear method listed above, then I stopped... about a week later I had two nems. It was, I believe, the stress of a diminished source of food. Either way, it split. I've seen them split after reworking the rock, and split for absolutely no reason at all. It's fun... but at the same time it can be a PITA because coral don't react kindly to a nem with a touch of wanderlust.

I'll probably try to start feeding them more mysis for a few weeks. I'm not trying to get them to split, just grow some; right now I've got 2 about 3" across and another that is literally 1" max across. Pretty cool looking RBTA that small, but it's been that size for months and I'd like to have something that starts maturing and growing.

I had gotten some BTAs that just stayed small... of course, by then I had already decided that I would prevent clones if at all possible. The only nem I've ever had that didn't split was a condy about the second month after getting into the hobby. Oh, man... I made some mistakes early on, that's for sure. I had a beautiful rose tip nem that I didn't realize my wife loved until I finally got rid of it. Must have split about 7-9 times in the years that I had it. King got the last copy after my 350G fiasco. It was huge, about the size of a football.

I'm wondering if my lights aren't strong enough to grow them any larger; enough to keep them healthy but now grow. I have 4 ATi T5 bulbs

My RBTAs eat everything. I've sold dozens of em. When I want them to grow I feed them pea sized pieces of shrimp of sea scallops every couple of days. That's what I feed my green brittle star. I read that shrimp (yes, from the market. I keep it frozen. I like the large EZ peal raw ones because I also cook.) is low in phosphates.

Jack, I've tried the frozen shrimp and saw some success with that in the past. I may try getting on a more consistent feeding regiment with them

I've added a second heater it's in my DT set at 76 my RKE is reading approx 80 degrees my nems have opened up more than usual :) and I've recently acquired a nem not sure if it's a ritteri or a Sebea it has a magenta (purple) pedal or foot http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/25/yvesu6u5.jpg

I just prefer to feed my nem mysis so that I dont have a large piece of shrimp floating around if the new lets it go. With the mysis i know my other fish will eat anything thats left over.

Sweet. And your clown already loves it. How long have you had it? I added a GBTA to my biocube and the clowns haven't touched it yet
