Chemiclean is the best imo

What are you doing for it?
I've done the more frequent water change and dosed competing bacteria. Also skimmed wet and blew off cyano every other day.

The Chemiclean worked well for me. Within three days it was predominantly gone, then I just stayed on top of my water changes.

Chemiclean will remove cyano but you more than likely will have a green hair algae outbreak sometime afterwards.
And the chemiclean does not remove the source. So the cyano will come back. Ive been having fun with it. ugh
edit Check the sand bed and make sure theres cyano deep in that sand

I used it once, and afterwards I paid attention to the water change and feeding routine. No algae problems. It's kind of like those cleanses they have on the market, shed two pounds in two days, there's your head start now go forth and do great things.
It's not an end all solution, but it will give you a rapid resolution on the problem. What you do after will dictate the effectiveness of your maintenance.

Well.. at first we thought it was the lack of lighting (old bulbs) so we bought all new ones.
Waited a while still nothing.. so I used a syphen to remove what was on the sand bed.. It was gone for 4 days then bam over night there it was again...
Next, water changes 40gal every week for the last month, nitrates linger but not off the scale like some.
Phosban Reactor is running with a small pump, the red is slowly turning brown but geez this stuff is ugly..
And was skimming wet for about 3 days to no avail. Still skimming wet but not as much as before.
Along with a really thick filter near the return pump..
I read lots about Chemi Clean, even bought some but afraid to use it since it would be used in the main display with coral & fish. :-/ I also read on the box.... to up the oxygen level as well as circulation... would the 2 MP40 really be enough? Ahhh decisions decisions decisions..
What kind of bacteria did you use John?
Allan what did you do different when you dosed with this stuff? How long did it take? What does the die off look like?

Up the air in the skimmer and point returns to top off tank. Surface agitation will help introduce O2.
I used microbacter7 and Dr Tims. Can't really say that they helped. I was scared to do use Chemiclean as well. It took weeks doing the hard way, but once it went away it didn't come back.
Also, I stirred my shallow sand bed and continuously turkey basted the rocks.

We have pretty much struggled with cyano perpetually in our 210g tank because we feed so heavily and have a heavy bio load. If we ever missed a weekly water change, I would see it start to creep back in to the display. Since we starting running GFO routinely I have been surprised to see the cyano almost nonexistent, even if we skip a week. I'm convinced this is what made the difference for us...worth a try!
I know people swear by chemiclean and I have used it in our first year of reefing. But it makes me really, really nervous to mess with the micro fauna and pods like that.

Run GFO and carbon and regular water changes you will see it start to die if you stay up on it then use Chemi Clean change the GFO and carbon every 2 weeks it will strip your water but be careful you can get your water to clean and zoas will not like that also run medical grade soda lime before your skimmer air line will help with the PH drop from carbon and remove CO2 from the air into your tank what the cyno loves to , the little bubbles on the cyno is oxygen release so the Cyno needs CO2 to survive to sorry runons haha you know me

don't run the skimmer when you use the Chemi Clean it will just remove it put a air stone in your sump somewere but cover it your going to get ALOT of bubbles

when the few days are up with the Chemi Clean do skimmer water changes till you can hold the skimmer from not overflowing , this is just me but only do like 75% of what they say on the Chemi Clean I don't like that stuff :)

Try also Waste Away after you get rid of Cyno it worked for me for along time till I got lazy on my water changes :)

I ran my skimmer but without the cup just let it over flow to give it O2 that it needs. Thank you to Terry at salty fish for the idea.

yeh was a good idea but in my case the bubble pop would make a crazy mess under my tank :)
